00:11state-level Jap Gomei celebration on Tuesday to mark the grand finale of the Chinese New Year festivities.
00:17Jap Gomei, meaning the 15th night in Hokkien, falls on the 15th day of the first lunar month
00:23and signifies the end of the festive season. The celebration featured a colorful procession
00:29of themed floats and a specially decorated bus by members of the state Chinese Penang Association.
00:35Inspired by the traditional dondang sayang, the procession paid tribute to Penang's
00:40Perahnakan heritage, while contestants from the Ratu Kebaya pageant also appeared in vibrant
00:45traditional attire. The highlight of the evening was the orange-tossing ritual at the seafront.
00:51Traditionally associated with unmarried individuals seeking a life partner, it is now widely embraced
00:56as a gesture of good luck and fresh beginnings.

02:112025 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation.

02:22reflect Penang's commitment to strengthening the tourism sector.
