Oregon Ducks Head Coach dan Lanning Discusses quarterback Originality
Transcript
00:00how much do you how much do you tell your quarterbacks not to be what Bo did or what
00:10Dylan did and how much have they kind of embraced playing to who they are and not trying to live up
00:15to what the guys previously did I think that's everybody in our organization right not just
00:19exclusively quarterbacks you know I think coaches have to be who they are right players have to be
00:24who they are so everybody understands that but I also know where's one on a play progression right
00:29where do my eyes need to start what do I need to be able to do and there's a teaching progression to
00:33play progression to everything that we do same with quarterbacks so I'm more concerned about are
00:38their eyes in the right spot to start right are they making the right calls the right reads the
00:42right checks and uh are they putting the ball in jeopardy are they protecting the ball but you have
00:47to be you when you're out there on that field a lot of youth but some some talent there in the
00:53quarterback room just how do you feel like they performed today and what are the things you're
00:56trying to see in a scrimmage compared to what you see every day in practice it's a corner corner yeah
01:00yeah I mean some good some bad right saw some physicality show up today some guys have to make
01:04tackles uh in space which is one of the hardest things to do in football uh saw some guys get
01:09beat over the top at times today too so um that's going to happen right and what we got to do is learn
01:13from those mistakes but I see a group that's really hungry eager to learn taking advantage of their
01:17opportunities when they're on the field and uh maximizing those chances
01:20things you know you need to learn not always do you know you're teaching throws doesn't disagree
01:36or you know you want to tell people out what the things that you want to do to do so um that now
