Oregon Ducks Coach Dan Lanning discusses the depth of the running back room
Transcript
00:00Going back to the running backs,
00:07can you talk about what Noah did to earn a starting job
00:09and where does Hughes fit in the pecking order now,
00:11given that he only had one career today?
00:12Yeah, we got a ton of really good backs.
00:15So I'd say I'm really – I want to go watch the film,
00:17but they earn it every single day in practice.
00:20We've got a bunch of guys that can play winning football,
00:22and, again, that's the challenge for us to figure out where does that fall.
00:25But we get to see it every single day in practice,
00:26and these guys would tell you that Noah Whittington's earned that
00:29every single day in practice and his leadership and how he's worked.
00:32Right here on the right.
00:34Jeremiah, credited with two putt blocks.
00:37What does that mean to you as a coach to have someone who, you know,
00:39is vying for a starting role in the offense,
00:41having that impact in special teams?
00:42Yeah, you talk about, like, biggest growth guys,
00:44like guys that took some of the biggest steps,
00:46and I'd say J-Mac's one of those guys that's taken the biggest step for us
00:49in his second season here.
00:51His mindset, his temperament, the way he approaches every day,
00:54special teams being important to him.
00:56So I was excited to see him out there making an impact for us today.
00:59You know, a guy who's been around here as long as you have instantly comes out
01:04and sets the tone with a 35-yard run to instantly put you guys in their territory.
01:08How does he set the tone and kind of as a leader for that running back room?
01:11Yeah, just in everything that he does.
01:12I mean, he's serious all the time, right?
01:14And he loves what he's doing.
01:15He loves his teammates.
01:16He works really hard at practice,
01:17and there's results on the field because of that.
