00:00When you look at Oklahoma City winning at home on their home floor in a game seven of course with
00:06the dichotomy of seeing Tyrese Halliburton injured early the Thunder able to capitalize on what the
00:12expectation was a good majority if not the entirety of the NBA season be the Western
00:18Conference's number one seed check most wins 68 check get to the NBA Finals win the Western
00:24Conference check and win that NBA championship for the first time in 17 years as a franchise
00:30in Oklahoma City when you look back on the season the Thunder accomplished what stands out to you most
00:37the defense was historic obviously and I also think when looking at it the the way that they won
00:45is unfortunately going to be remembered right like I to be I wanted to see that game I wanted to see
00:51how it was going to go if Tyrese Halliburton was healthy um do I think the Pacers would have won
00:56I mean it's entirely possible and they weren't going to do it without them I think for OKC though
01:01the scary thing is that they have the best pathway to run it back that we've seen in a little bit
01:06we talked about Denver potentially but in hindsight Denver had some friction between the front office
01:11and the coaching staff that ultimately you know they were not going to be able to overcome and
01:16really build out that roster for a sustainable period and have a contendership for for a prolonged
01:21period though they're still contenders they're weaker than they were when they won the title and
01:26then with Boston it wasn't just a Tatum injury it was also the team wasn't as good this year they
01:31dropped off of the shooting wasn't as consistent they leaned too much into Missoula ball and ultimately
01:37like it cost them in the end against a team in the Knicks that they should have beaten and they should
01:41have beaten pretty easily but they did not because they couldn't hit a jump shot and they were sticking
01:46too much to that and they didn't have enough variety in their offensive game with Oklahoma City
01:50Thunder though they have the contracts they have the picks they could continue to restock they could
01:54continue to just add to this team and retool and the contract extensions for Jalen Williams and
02:00Chet Holmgren haven't even been agreed upon yet they will be this summer but they won't even kick in
02:05for another year and Shea Gildas Alexander is still not making all the money he's going to make later on
02:10like he's still on like the fun max as Brian Windhorst calls it the rookie scale or the first max
02:16extension he's going to get another one that's going to balloon and we'll see how Oklahoma City
02:21can potentially keep this team together whether or not they can but that's really what we're looking
02:25at like they have the pathway to do this again for at least another couple seasons
