00:00Why don't we start with the beatdown in Oklahoma City last night as the LeBron James L.A. Lakers lose
00:07by double digits again.
00:08Closer game for sure. Lakers had a lead actually late in the second half of this game and then the
00:16Thunder just poured it on.
00:17So how did the Lakers react to that? The way you might expect the Lakers to react to that.
00:22Austin Reeves on the court crying to the referees.
00:26Wah! Wah! LeBron James, man, I didn't get any calls.
00:32How about, you know, I made a basket. You called the basket off.
00:36Said the foul was on the floor. Wah! Wah!
00:40And then J.J. Redick after the game. I think we have the video of this.
00:44I'm going to play it for you.
00:45J.J. Redick after the game complaining about the officiating in another double-digit point loss to the Thunder.
00:55They now go down 2-0 in that series and, of course, has to make it about his boy toy,
01:00LeBron James.
01:01He's not treated fairly by the officials.
01:05Here's J.J. Redick crying. Go ahead.
01:07LeBron has the worst whistle of any star player I've ever seen.
01:10I mean, I've been with him two years now.
01:12So, you know, there's, again, the smaller guys, because they can be theatric, they typically draw more fouls.
01:19And the bigger players that are...
01:21Can you just stop with that for a second?
01:22LeBron James gets less calls than any star player I've ever seen.
01:25His words, not mine.
01:26That's correct.
01:26And the smaller players, his words, not mine, are more theatric.
01:30Yeah, Brutzel.
01:31Do I need to show you a tape of the theatrics of LeBron James?
01:36I think you're going.
01:37And the flopping and the call begging, that's been his entire career.
01:42No, that's the...
01:43All of a sudden, you're up against someone who might be better at it than you in SGA.
01:48And Chet Holmgren, you know, with the, oh, my God, I got shot last night.
01:53Yeah.
01:53He didn't get touched, but you're not kidding.
01:55Ah!
01:56Yeah.
01:56And rather than just acknowledge that you're going up against what we all agree on, is
02:02the best team in all of basketball.
02:04Yeah.
02:04The defending champions, who, by the way, are going to probably sweep everybody.
02:10But they're certainly going to sweep you guys.
02:12And the best you can do after the game is, well, let me stick up for the guy that got
02:17me
02:17the job, who I like to drink expensive red wine with, and acknowledge that of all the superstars
02:23in basketball, he gets fewer calls.
02:25Shut up, you crybaby.
02:27You lost to a better team.
02:29That's it.
02:30Yeah, well, partially.
02:32You know, I got to be honest.
02:33I had trouble sleeping last night, if I could be honest.
02:36Because you were about losing game three to the next.
02:38Not at all.
02:38That one is just easy street.
02:40And I was just thinking about it.
02:41I'm pretty emotional about this because I'm sad.
02:44Because what J.J. Reddick said is correct.
02:46Oh, my Lord.
02:47LeBron James gets brutalized out there, and the referees never have his back because he's
02:53a physical phenomenon.
02:54And I think that it's so wrong that you'll play coy with this and play light with it.
03:00It's in line with the New York bloodthirst, where you want LeBron to, what, have to get
03:04shot for him to get a call?
03:06LeBron James has got a bad whistle for now two decades.
03:10And we just should acknowledge it.
03:11Now, are the Thunder the better team?
03:13Of course the Thunder are the better team.
03:15But here's the thing.
03:17The Lakers aren't going to get better as a team between games two and three because
03:22it looks like Luka's still out for a while.
03:24It does look that way, yes.
03:25The only thing they can hope for when they get to L.A. is for the game to be close
03:30and
03:31to get a better whistle.
03:32Because they have no chance basketball-wise.
03:35Yeah.
03:36To me, what you're criticizing is the only path to victory, and you have-
03:41Is what?
03:42Going to the free-tail line?
03:43Yes, that's the only path.
03:44If they can't beat them playing basketball-
03:46Correct.
03:46They've got to get better calls.
03:47And by the way, let's not sit here and be intellectually dishonest with what you're doing.
03:52No, I am being honest.
03:53By suggesting that LeBron James hasn't got the benefit of calls.
03:58No, he has not.
03:58That LeBron James has not been theatrical-
04:00No, he's been theatrical throughout his career.
04:02By force, because he won't get a call otherwise.
04:05Oh, stop it.
04:05Yes, if the referees would treat him fairly, he would have.
04:08He would not be theatrical.
04:09He had to start doing that.
04:11I'm disappointed in you now.
04:12I'm disappointed in you.
04:14I just can't believe it.
04:15That's fine.
04:15I'm looking at Prime LeBron and looking at his free-throw attempts per game throughout
04:19his career far too low.
04:21He's never led the league in free-throw attempts.
04:23A guy as prolific as him, he has a scoring title, and he never led the league in foul shots
04:28per game.
04:29Why?
04:29Because he's always got a brutal whistle.
04:32Now, I recognize that it might come off like an excuse now, but going back to the early
04:382000s, he's been getting a bad whistle.
