XANDRA, 21, is from a small conservative town in Texas and has always felt like people have never liked or accepted their 'Scene' style. Despite feeling truly happy and free dressing this way, Xandra has been made to feel like they don't fit in. Xandra told Transformed: "I get barked at a lot! People say they hate my style, that I look like I'm stuck in the '90s, that I dress crazy. I've always been made to feel like I'm out of place and unable to express myself." Despite facing these judgments, Xandra ignored the haters and continued to dress however they wanted. It was only when they met their three best friends who also love the 'Scene' aesthetic that Xandra finally felt accepted and loved. Xandra said: "My best friends love my style and they are a big inspiration to how I look today. Once you find people who love you for you then it makes it all worth it." Tonight Xandra is out with the girls to celebrate their 22nd birthday... But this won't be a regular night out! With the help of makeup artist Kristen, Xandra is transforming from their 'Scene' style into a 'basic and Granola' look to prank their best friends. How will the best friend react? Will they decide to boycott the birthday celebrations because of their new look? Or will they be even more shocked to find out they prefer the new basic Xandra?

00:00I'm from a small conservative town in Texas.
00:02People never really liked my scene style,
00:04and I always felt out of place and unable to express myself.
00:07I do get barked out a lot.
00:09People will say, I can't believe people still dress like this.
00:11Like, this looks crazy.
00:13When I was growing up, my parents didn't like when I wore eyeliner,
00:16so I'd take it all from the bus on the way home.
00:18Tonight, I'm going to celebrate my 22nd birthday with my best friends.
00:22So what better time to transform my style and prank them all?
00:25I don't know if they'll hate it or not.
00:27I'm going to see if I am still a swag.
00:30Oh, that's awesome!
00:41Hey! How are you?
00:43Welcome in!
00:44I'm so excited!
00:45Me too!
00:47Let's get started.
00:49I'm Xandra.
00:50I do identify as, like, a scene.
00:53I love colorful things, anime, skinny jeans.
00:57Tutus.
00:58Colorful makeup.
00:59Bowls.
01:00Definitely hair.
01:01Candy.
01:02Because candy is, like, a big part of the scene culture.
01:05If I could summarize my look, I would say it's kind of, like, dolly.
01:09Kind of dramatic.
01:10I like to, like, overdo it sometimes.
01:12Some people think it's, like, an insult.
01:14And they're like, you look like you're stuck in the 2000s.
01:16And I'm like, thank you.
01:18Tonight, I'm going to celebrate my 22nd birthday with my best friends.
01:22So what better time to transform my style and prank them all?
01:25So the style I'm turning into today is basic in granola.
01:28So I'm going to be looking pretty normal.
01:33Probably no colored hair.
01:34No piercing.
01:35No tattoos.
01:36I'm going to see if I'm still a swag.
01:40I feel like the granola look is a pretty trendy term right now.
01:43It's pretty basic, really soft-like, natural colors.
01:48Really neutral colors.
01:49There's no loud colors on the face.
01:51She has, like, no brows, so we're going to give her some brows today.
01:54And I'm really excited because the brows really shape the face when it comes to the natural look that I'm about to do.
02:01All right, we're ready for you.
02:02Are you ready?
02:03Are you scared?
02:04I'm scared.
02:05So you're scared, yes.
02:06I'm going to take all of what you did this morning off.
02:10Yup.
02:11Me without a septum?
02:12Like, it's, like, weird because I see it on my face every day.
02:15When was the last time you took it off?
02:16A septum?
02:17I don't know.
02:18Probably a while.
02:19A really long while.
02:22Look at my lashes.
02:24The lashes.
02:25Since you have, like, heavy makeup, I went in with the Manio Cleansing Water.
02:29This got off your eyeliner, which is waterproof, so this is really good.
02:33In high school, I did try to, like, fit in, so I would dress, like, kind of basic.
02:39But it's, like, funny because I would still get bullied.
02:42I did, like, try it for a little bit, and it didn't, like, look horrible on me.
02:47I just didn't feel like myself.
02:49And then also just realizing the fact that I was still getting bullied regardless how I looked.
02:54I might as well just, like, do what I want.
02:57My best friends love my scene style.
03:01And they know that they also, like, are a big inspiration to, like, how I look today.
03:07Once you find people that love you for you, then I think it makes it worth it.
03:11So I'm using the Sephora brow pencil.
03:13Ooh.
03:14I just did hair, like, strokes, really just to, like, emphasize, like, the arch of your brow.
03:21Looks really good.
03:22Do you ever use natural colors?
03:24Um, sometimes.
03:27Nothing, like, super light usually unless it's, like, like a pink.
03:30Were there anybody who gave you negative vibes or negative comments?
03:34People will say things, and they're like, I can't believe people still dress like this.
03:38It's not always taken well.
03:40I do get barked at a lot in parking lots.
03:42People would make assumptions on me based off of, like, how I was dressing.
03:46So there would be, like, a new rumor I would hear about myself, like, every week.
03:49And then they just assume, like, if, like, you're different, then there's something wrong with me.
03:53Which is kind of sad.
03:55I'm using the Ofra Cosmetics highlighter, and I'm using the lightest shade possible.
04:03And that's how I'm, like, bringing that luminosity back into the face where it's, like, a good, healthy glow.
04:10So why did you decide to do this?
04:12Well, I really want to, like, prank my friends for my 22nd birthday because they're not expecting, like, anything at all.
04:21I hope they still like me.
04:24They're going to love it.
04:25I feel like they're going to be like, uh, but then they're going to love it.
04:27Yeah.
04:28They're going to love it.
04:29I'm going to go in with the Charlotte Tilbury Finishing Press Powder.
04:31This powder, all the celebrities use it.
04:34Really?
04:35It's a staple, and I feel like it looks good on every skin.
04:39This is definitely something out of my comfort zone because I do sometimes rely on, like, my look to feel confident.
04:47I'm a little nervous about, like, going outside in my new look because I'm, like, I don't know.
04:53I don't know.
04:54It's going to be weird.
04:55Oh, my gosh.
04:56This looks really good.
04:57Now we need to get dressed.
05:00Oh, my goodness.
05:02Hey.
05:03You look pretty good.
05:04I can't wait for you to see it.
05:07All right.
05:08Here's the grand reveal.
05:09Three, two, one.
05:12Oh, that's crazy.
05:15You like it?
05:16Woo!
05:17Dude, I look like how I did in high school.
05:21Ew.
05:22I feel like, uh, Jennifer Lawrence right now.
05:25Hey, we love her.
05:26I love the makeup.
05:27Like, I think the makeup is, like, really good.
05:30It's, like, so, like, I'm so not used to it.
05:33Yeah, it's really light.
05:34But it's, like, wow.
05:35This is crazy.
05:36This is crazy.
05:37I would never wear overall.
05:38Like, I think they're cute.
05:39But, like, like, who is that?
05:42That's not me.
05:45My friends are going to, like, freak out.
05:47I wonder if, like, I see someone I know and if they'll recognize me or not.
05:50Probably not.
05:51I'd be surprised if they did recognize you.
05:52I would be very surprised if they did.
05:54I'm the new girl in town.
05:55Look at all of Xandra's stuff.
05:58The lashes.
05:59And the piercings.
06:00I can't imagine her at all.
06:02Like, without any kind of color.
06:04No piercings, especially.
06:05Dude, seeing the nose chain in here is, like, kind of freaking me out.
06:09Yes.
06:10Because, like, that's, like, iconic.
06:11Even when I see them without makeup, they're always wearing those piercings.
06:15We've seen Xandra do, like, other styles.
06:17Like, goth and, like, cutesy and stuff like that.
06:20But not, like, normal person.
06:23I don't know.
06:26Oh!
06:27That's hot!
06:28Bro!
06:33What is this in the shoes?
06:35The shoes are, like, actually what's killing me.
06:38Don't pass me.
06:39I don't.
06:40I'm scared.
06:41Bye.
06:42What is this?
06:43You went to conversion to everything.
06:44Oh, my God.
06:45Oh, my God.
06:46I'm so scared.
06:47The hair.
06:48Are you even wearing eyeliner?
06:49No.
06:50You're not wearing any eyeliner at all?
06:52No.
06:53Oh, Jesus.
06:54That's so scary.
06:55It's, like, really, like...
06:57I can't.
06:58I don't, like, not wearing eyeliner.
07:01How do you feel about that, your piercings?
07:03I need to, like, touch them all the time.
07:05So, like, I'm, like, grabbing for it and it's not there.
07:08Putting on my makeup, like, it was, like, so easy because she wasn't, like, going over, like, piercings.
07:12And, like, that's how I, like, usually, I'm, like, always struggling.
07:15I have to, like, pull, like, my nose chain down.
07:17But she was just, like, I was, like, oh, that feels weird.
07:19Are you, like, scared to go out?
07:21Yes.
07:22Do you think anyone's gonna recognize you?
07:24No.
07:25Um, I wouldn't.
07:26Yeah.
07:27That's just not...
07:28If I saw you, like, this randomly in public, I'd be...
07:31Oh, my God.
07:32It looks like Zandra.
07:33It looks like Zandra, but not Zandra.
07:35But not Zandra.
07:36You should change your profile picture.
07:38Stop!
07:39Stop!
07:40No!
07:41So, what did you think of everybody's reactions?
07:44Yeah, honestly, it literally went exactly like that.
07:47I honestly expected it to be that way.
07:50Yeah.
07:51I don't think I would do it again, but I...
07:55It's, like, kind of cool seeing my, like, face, like, kind of how I looked when I was younger with, like, my piercings.
08:03This experience has taught me that appearances don't really matter because even though, like, I would never dress like this, I still, like, feel kind of confident.
08:13It's kind of weird, but maybe it's kind of learning that I am comfortable with myself now, which is awesome.
08:20Thank you to my friends for being super supportive.
08:23I love you all, and you're the reason why I am who I am today.
