Hello and welcome to another edition of Look Around London.

Nelson's Column is one of London's most iconic landmarks, located in Trafalgar Square.

It was built in the 1840s to honour Admiral Horatio Nelson, a British naval hero who died

in 1805 at the Battle of Trafalgar.

The column stands about 52 metres tall and includes the statue of Nelson at the top which

overlooks the square below.

He's depicted facing south, symbolising his naval leadership.

Four giant bronze lions guard the base, added later in 1867, and bronze panels on the pedestal

depict scenes from Nelson's major battles.
