Angel, in the borough of Islington, is one of North London's liveliest neighbourhoods.

It's centred around Upper Street, a stretch packed with bars, restaurants and independent

shops that runs all the way up to Highbury.

The area takes its name from the old Angel Coaching Inn, which stood here from the 17th

century.

Today, it's a mix of old and new Georgian townhouses, alongside modern developments,

a strong theatre scene with the Almeida and the King's Head, and a reputation for nightlife.

Camden Passage, tucked off Upper Street, is known for antiques, markets and cafes, and

the Angel station on the Northern Line is home to one of the longest escalators on the Underground.
