We look at a spot in north London.
Transcript
00:00Hello and welcome to another edition of Look Around London.
00:04Angel, in the borough of Islington, is one of North London's liveliest neighbourhoods.
00:09It's centred around Upper Street, a stretch packed with bars, restaurants and independent
00:13shops that runs all the way up to Highbury.
00:16The area takes its name from the old Angel Coaching Inn, which stood here from the 17th
00:21century.
00:22Today, it's a mix of old and new Georgian townhouses, alongside modern developments,
00:28a strong theatre scene with the Almeida and the King's Head, and a reputation for nightlife.
00:34Camden Passage, tucked off Upper Street, is known for antiques, markets and cafes, and
00:39the Angel station on the Northern Line is home to one of the longest escalators on the Underground.
00:45The area is always well connected.
00:47Angel has become a spot where history, culture and a busy social scene all overlap.
