Haiti restarts investigation into murder of president Jovenel Moise

The Haitian president was gunned down at his home in July 2021. Of the twenty suspects in the killing, none have so far faced trial as intimidations and gang violence made the hearings stall repeatedly.

00:00Twenty suspects, but nobody on trial.
00:05Haiti detained 17 former soldiers from Colombia and three Haitian officials
00:11and accused them of being involved in the killing of President Jovenel MoĂŻse in 2021.
00:18The Haitian president was gunned down at his home in July nearly four years ago.
00:23His wife was injured but survived the attack.
00:27Three other suspects, all Colombians, were killed hours after MoĂŻse was slain.
00:33The initial investigation into the case was repeatedly halted
00:36as some Haitian judges resigned because they feared for their lives
00:40and none of the suspects have faced trials so far.
00:45But now, judges are tasked with starting the investigation anew.
00:50Six Haitian judges have been assigned to investigate whether there is sufficient evidence
00:55to warrant a trial for the 20 suspects still detained in the troubled Caribbean country.
