Haitian high-ranking official responds to U.S. sanctions

00:11The U.S. did not name the person it sanctioned in Monday's announcement, but Jean confirmed
00:16it was him as he rejected the accusations of supporting gangs.
00:21For some months now, several members of the council have observed the failure of Prime
00:26Minister Didier Fizeme's government on the issues of security, governance and elections.
00:34The U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher Landau, last week warned on social media that
00:38there were calls for open war against the central government in Haiti.
00:44Threats are coming from the American Embassy, which is coming from the Canadian Embassy,
00:51where they said if we don't withdraw our support for replacing the Prime Minister, they will
00:55cut off our visas and the visas of our families.
