00:04earl eli well for 2025 a total of 11 firearms have been removed from tobago which brings
00:14to 41 the number of guns between last year and this year which to me is a lot for a small space
00:21as tobago officer eli said crime is under control in tobago as officers continue their relentless
00:27pursuit in the war against criminals yeah heading in a safe direction we are not quite as safe as we
00:36would like it to be but we are getting there and we are getting there very quickly let's just share
00:42some basic statistics with you at this time last year we would have had 10 murders at this time
00:52with the corresponding period this year we have three murders which is three too many in my book
00:57uh but the good news about that is that all three have been solved all three persons have been
01:03charged and uh are before the courts last year this time we would have had 39 cases of of violent
01:10offenses that's shooting and woundings yeah uh this year we have 12 for this period so we see a
01:18significant reduction in the violent crimes a significant reduction in the murders and that's
01:24the current trend that we are going on a 33 year old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted and beaten
01:31after a confrontation with her former partner in mayaru according to reports the incident occurred on
01:36june 6th at a residence on seaview lane pleasance road mayaru where the woman had been speaking with
01:43the ex-boyfriend the victim reported the incident to the mayaru police station on wednesday the suspect was
01:49located but escaped by jumping through a window later around 6 30 p.m he was apprehended during an
01:56exercise in the mayaru district and remains in custody at the mayaru police station four automated
02:04teller machines were severely damaged at the first citizens bank branch located at independence square in
02:11port of spain the estimated cost of the damage is 33 000 at approximately 4 a.m on wednesday a security
02:20officer from amalgamated security services limited stationed at the bank's credit card center on shacon
02:26street was alerted by a pedestrian to the incident a report was made to the police later that day
02:32officers arrested a 40-year-old man from co street eastern quarry in laventil in connection with the incident
