Ag workers find freedom in a tiny home that moves with the job

Tiny homes are emerging as a practical solution for ag workers needing housing they can move with.

00:00We have a lot of ag workers that come to the tiny house industry because they want to buy a house

00:04that they can take with them for their jobs. So if they're spending six months in one property

00:09and then moving on, they want to be able to take their home with them. So this is a really good

00:13way for people who are renting land. They don't necessarily have a family member that they can

00:18rent land off or it's an intergenerational land. If they're wanting to live rural, stay rural,

00:24but they need to have the flexibility of taking their home with them because there is no rentals

00:28available in the community where they want to live and work, they can bring the house.

00:32When you go to a house and land package, you have to pick a certain amount that you're prepared to spend

00:38and it has to meet the land value. Whereas with a tiny house, you can get a house built to your

00:43specifications, your family needs. Need one bedroom? Fine. Need two bedrooms? Fine. Need disability access

00:49to a bathroom? Fine. You can get it built to your needs. If you can have anything from a shepherd

00:54apartment like behind me, up to a very luxurious tiny house, it would have two or even three

01:00bedrooms and it would have all the bells and whistles where you can have something really

01:04simple. So whatever type of land that you have, if you have some spare land, there's sort of

01:10something for everybody there.
