Bexhill Beach Garden officially opens on June 7 2025

The Beach Garden opened officially opened on June 7 but had a soft opening in November 2024.

00:00right we're here today on the 7th of June to formally open the beach garden which has now

00:12completed the planting seating plaques we're at the ready to let everyone enjoy this special space

00:20and we've got the Lord Lieutenant coming along today to open it for us and Adam field who's a

00:28wheelchair coach tennis coach who's going to come and cut the ribbon so it should be a really good

00:35day and hopefully everyone from now on will find that they can really enjoy the beach garden and

00:41everything in its surrounding environment now it's all finished I have to say I am absolutely

00:47proud of the end result I couldn't have got there to be honest without the help of a lot of people

00:54too many to mention here but they have really supported the project it's amazing how a community

01:01project can be so well supported and come to fruition and look as good as it does we are

01:07delighted and I personally want to thank everyone for all the effort they put in to help me achieve

01:13my goal we are now where the dream has become a reality my plan to tick two key boxes for the town

01:20has been fulfilled one was to have a free fully accessible community space for everyone one lady

01:29in a wheelchair said to me that this is the first time in a long time that she had had the feeling of

01:35being on holiday sitting on the beach away from the traffic and the people just enjoying the rhythm of

01:42the sea it improved our whole well-being and filled her with enjoyment families with buggies children

01:50playing access to the decking areas for our physically vulnerable and wheelchair users gives a sense of

01:57value to all those who use it the second tip box was for the environment the key the sea is a key asset to

02:06the town and we should be caring for it and safeguarding it by making this more than an accessible space

02:14a garden we are highlighting the need to increase our coastal biodiversity and in a small way when

02:23these plants are established it will go some way to helping protect the shoreline from coastal erosion
