00:00This man, you may not know this, but this man is kind of legendary on the golf course.
00:06He does a big charity event every year, and I used to play in it, but I've given up golf
00:10because I decided that I'm too old to do things I'm not good at.
00:13So, I'm done.
00:15Anyway, he's had an illustrious and multifaceted career that encompasses television, film,
00:21stand-up comedy, and late-night television.
00:23And he has broken ground for Latino comics by embracing his ethnicity,
00:29confronting racial stereotypes and fighting for his community both on and off the stage.
00:36Now, most recently, you may have seen him in the family sitcom,
00:40Lopez vs. Lopez, opposite his daughter, Mayan.
00:44And, of course, his first TV hit show, The George Lopez Show,
00:50which appropriately used Lowrider as its theme song.
00:55Please help me welcome to the stage fellow Walk of Famer, George Lopez!
01:08Show!
01:10If you want to know the significance of war, you have one of the greatest producers to ever work with any artist
01:15as your host of the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.
01:18So, Jimmy Jam, there's less of him to love, but lovable all the same.
01:24I want to let the official members of war know how significant your music is to the world,
01:34and how important you are as musicians, and to the culture, and to the vibe, and to all of the cultures everywhere.
01:41I want you guys to give them an applause and let them know how truly,
01:46how truly honored we are to be here and to have them sitting there.
01:51The Chamber of Commerce wanted me to let you guys know that all the cars here,
02:03they'll be checking registrations at 1230.
02:05So, Danny Trejo wanted me to tell you that he opened another, a new restaurant just around the corner, Trejo's Tacos.
02:16If you've been, I've never been because I don't want to eat at a place where the dude don't wear a shirt, but okay.
02:25In 1984, when I first started doing comedy, and I was traveling, I wasn't very good,
02:31and on one of the radio stations, they played Lowrider under my introduction,
02:37and I used it to walk to the stage, and it made me feel like I was home.
02:43And I've been very fortunate in my career to have done all the things that I've dreamt of.
02:50But also, I want to let Warren know that you were the family that I didn't have,
03:01and the music that I could always rely on.
03:04And it means so much to me. It means so much.
03:07I knew I was going to cry the medicine.
03:09No.
03:11But I'm honored to be here today.
03:17They do deserve a star on the Walk of Fame, and they also deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
03:22First this.
03:27I got them into Costco last year.
03:31I got them all Costco cards last year.
03:34I'm working on global entry, but I think that they should be most definitely in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
03:43I also want to let my community know, and all the Chicanos and all the Latinos here,
03:49that we're going to get through this period, and we've gotten through all the periods,
03:53and we're valuable to this country.
03:55We deserve to be here as much as anyone else.
03:57Thank you, Jerry.
04:06Thank you, guys in the band.
04:08Thank you, Lonnie, Teresa, everybody.
04:10Thank you so much for filling my heart with love today.
04:13And also, I want to let everybody know that I will plan to come to the Hollywood Walk of Fame
04:18and see the war star whenever I feel like I want to look like I want to be home,
04:22and whenever I feel homesick and I miss people that I used to listen to the music to,
04:25I will come and stand on that star and remind myself of how important this band is to me and to my life.
04:31I ain't coming at night, but I'll come during the day.
04:34Thank you guys very much.
04:36Congratulations, war.
04:37Give me that ass up.
