00:02I'd like to invite you up, if you don't mind coming up, for a special honor from the city.
00:16So, Noah, over 10 million people a year come to this boulevard, and from now on forevermore,
00:22we'll see your name as one of the icons of our industry.
00:25And so on behalf of the city council member, Hugo Soto-Martinez, we'd like to present you
00:29with this accolade from the city of Los Angeles.
00:34We're going to give a close first.
00:37Over here.
00:45In the audience.
00:56So, I'd like to, on behalf of the Hollywood Chamber, announce two things.
01:02First, now and forevermore, the doctor is in.
01:08At least the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
01:12And second, on behalf of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, I'd like to pronounce this, Noah
01:18Wiley Day in Hollywood.
01:24The mic is yours.
01:26Oh, my goodness.
01:35I want to begin by offering my most heartfelt thanks to Jerry Newman and the Hollywood Chamber
01:41Chamber of Commerce for this singular honor.
01:46I'm so excited to be here for so many reasons, not the least of which is it gives me an
01:50opportunity
01:50to acknowledge some people who have been more than influential in my life.
01:55They've been load-bearing.
01:56I will begin with everyone that is here from my creative family at Warner Television, a relationship
02:02that began with a friendly hug from Peter Roth 30 years ago and continues into the warm embrace
02:08of the incomparable Channing Dungey, Casey Bloys, and everyone at HBO Max, the entire crew over
02:14at John Wells Productions, including the man himself.
02:18I am so grateful to be in partnership with you.
02:21Our long-standing relationship has been the most creative and fruitful of my life, and I am beyond
02:27excited when I think about the wonderful collaborations still to come.
02:31To my team, most of whom who have been with me from the very first season of ER,
02:39Danny, Sandra, Jeff, Jeff with a G who's not here today, Sean, Felicia, Jen, Lindsay, Cole, Dylan,
02:46I thank you for your labors.
02:48I thank you for your loyalty, your belief in me, your patience, your guidance, your encouragement.
02:55May this ride never end.
03:00To my speakers, to my brothers, Jonathan Frakes and Stephen Weber, thank you for always taking
03:06my call, I count my memories of working and playing with you both among my most cherished.
03:12You have both modeled for me a way of life, a balancing of work and family, of art and commerce,
03:21of success and humility that has kept me in alignment and made me a better artist, father,
03:28husband, and friend.
03:30We men of a certain age can get a little needy and a little mushy, and sometimes we need a
03:34support
03:35group, and I have the best one in the world.
03:37To my CAD brothers, you know what you mean to me.
03:42The fact that so many of you are here today speaks volumes, as does Cranston's absence.
03:54To my family, my parents, four, my siblings, six, my aunts, uncles, cousins, I love you,
04:02and I thank you, and I thank you for choosing to live in L.A.
04:05We are really proud to be Angelenos.
04:11To my wife, Sarah, and my three amazing children, Owen, Aud, and Francis, you are my north-south
04:18east west.
04:20You are the reason I get up.
04:22You're my motivation to try harder.
04:24You're the source of my creativity.
04:26I thank you for your inspiration and for giving my life meaning and definition.
04:31And lastly, to my colleagues, all of the incredible writers, directors, and actors I've had the
04:37pleasure of knowing over the decades, all the crews I've been fortunate enough to work
04:41alongside, thank you for your camaraderie, your inspiration, and your talent.
04:46You're what make it.
04:48You're what make it fun.
04:51So, this is a really good spot.
04:55In fact, this spot is almost equidistant between where I was born and where I was raised.
05:01I was born at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital, just down across from Kaiser, where my mother worked
05:07as a scrub nurse in the orthopedic department through my entire youth.
05:11And I was raised, yeah, you can clap for my mom, in those canyons just north of Hollywood
05:20Boulevard on the other side of La Brea.
05:22Laurel Canyon, Nichols Canyon, Curzon Canyon, Runyon Canyon, those were our playgrounds as
05:27children, although we were not allowed to go up into Runyon Canyon.
05:30That's where the bikers and the junkies were running them up.
05:33I'm told it's very nice now, though.
05:34So, I went to preschool on Hollywood Boulevard at St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
05:40I went to summer camp at Temple Israel across the street.
05:44I went to elementary school just south of Hollywood Boulevard on Gardner, and I played
05:48youth basketball at the Hollywood YMCA on Schrader.
05:51I made weekly excursions, pilgrimages to the Man Chinese, the El Capitan, the Egyptian,
05:57the Fox, the Vogue, the Vine, and that is where I fell in love with all things movies.
06:02And it was at the Pantages Theater, where I fell in love with theater, watching Mandy
06:08Patinkin and Evita, Dick Van Dyke as the music man, Sandy Duncan as Peter Pan.
06:14I have walked up and down this street, hopscotching over these names for 50 years, daydreaming.
06:21I used to put my foot over the Beery and Noah Beery Jr.'s name and think, maybe one day.
06:28When I was 16, I got my first paid work as an actor.
06:31I got $100 for re-dubbing a romantic Leigh's voice in a Dennis Dugan comedy called Lame Ducks,
06:37and the recording studio was just next to the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
06:41When I was 18, I got my first apartment, 7235 Hollywood Boulevard, the St. James Terrace,
06:47with my dear friend, Zach Luna, who is here today.
06:50In 1989, I was walking down the street with my friend, Paul Guterres, and somebody from a
06:54moving car shot me in the ass with a BB gun, right outside Hollywood Toy and Magic.
07:01My father once owned a business on Hollywood Boulevard.
07:04He ran the Laserium show at the Vine Street Theater for a while.
07:09I met my wife, Sarah, at the Stella Adler Theater, 76-73 Hollywood Boulevard.
07:15I have history up and down this street like nowhere else on earth, and today, becoming part
07:20of that history is a true childhood dream come true.
07:24As far back as I can remember, I have wanted to be part of it, to be initiated into the
07:29club and company of show folk, those crazy, diverse individuals, that tribe of oddballs
07:36and eccentrics, dreamers and gamblers who make up this business.
07:40I love it more than I can say.
07:43It is all I've ever wanted to do and the only place I've ever wanted to be.
07:47It has been the joy of my life playing for you, being welcomed into your homes, becoming
07:53part of your history and your evolution, and I am truly humbled by this honor, gratified
07:58and inspired beyond words by this ceremony, and I will cherish the memory of this moment
08:04forever.
08:05Thank you very much.
08:17Thank you very much.
