00:00In USJ9 Subhangjaya lies a roadside durian stall run by a disabled man. Behind the modest setup

00:21and thorny fruits lie the inspiring story of its owner, a man who remains tenacious despite the

00:28many challenges he faces. Kamala Nadin Trongkodang or Nadin was once a crime branch detective who left

00:37his job to care for his mother after she suffered a minor stroke. Since then Nadin, a diabetic since

00:45he was 24 years old, has faced multiple setbacks including the amputation of two toes, loss of

00:52vision in his left eye and a broken leg. But he is determined to persevere. Through his durian stall,

01:01the 36-year-old hopes to be independent and support himself and his mother who now also struggles with

01:07knee problems. He also wants to save enough money for platelet-rich plasma injections that his mother

01:15needs for her knees. Running the durian stall comes with its fair share of challenges,

01:33the unpredictable weather being one of them. But rain or shine, Nadin always shows up.

01:39At times, he has to wait hours before a spot is available for him to set up his stall. Even the

01:47very fruits he sells hold thorny dangers. So the thorns spoke the hand, I mean my fingers,

01:58and infected. So on the 19th of May, I went and checked with the doctor in the clinic. He said,

02:08I have to go immediately because the thing is infected. So I went to hospital, UNICE hospital.

02:20Immediately, they admit me, then they admitted the figure.

02:27Despite the hardships, he has experienced kindness from others, like the workers from the nearby

02:33Warisan Sambal Oppa restaurant who regularly help him set up his stall and open

02:38durians for customers.

02:39There are a lot of kind of people around here. They come and sponsor some groceries,

02:49sometimes for some donations or so. Some of them, they come and buy a lot of fruit, support me.

02:59Our nursing people are very kind and very helpful.

03:02So Nadin is determined to keep going in his quiet fight to survive. One customer,

03:16one durian at a time. However, life I have to go through. So I just be positive. I trust myself.

03:25And I have the confidence that I can make it.

03:28One customer, seven, six, five years.

03:30One customer, seven, eight, ten years.

03:32And we will慣est in money, rent in later in when you come to market and find him to

03:33be the driver and the safety net of your identity.

03:34And I just like that.
