00:00I mean, the Tea Kadai Council is the first, we are the first in Malaysia that we bring them.
00:05Tea Kadai in Brickfields pulls tea the way it should be pulled.
00:09High,
00:11frothy and steaming.
00:13The cafe, which literally translates to tea shops, first opened in Penang in 2018.
00:20This one is like an admire.
00:23We opened it as a gift, which is to bring traditional food in a kind of cushion and a kind of cafe so that all people can eat.
00:34They stuck to one idea, giving a modern twist to India's traditional roadside tea stalls.
00:40From the flavours of the food down to the small cutting glasses of tea served on the classic tukhi,
00:46Rizwan and his brothers replicated the Tea Kadai experience, now their trademarked brand.
00:53Tea must be the classic glass from India.
00:56My brother Paes went to India for the first time ever and went to go and see everything.
01:01Okay, how they make the tea, how the aroma taste, how they blend the tea.
01:05So the best part is in India, they drink every day, they make a 7 glass tea every day.
01:14In Malaysia, maybe morning and evening.
01:16But in India, every, they say they have one methodology.
01:19Every 30 kilometer they travel, they will stop to get one tea.
01:24There's a normal mindset of people in India.
01:28It all began at 68 Queen Street in Georgetown.
01:32In just two months of opening, Tea Kadai shot to fame.
01:36That was after Vivek, the late legendary actor from India, visited the cafe.
01:40Since then, Tea Kadai has grown by leaps and bounds.
01:44One reason for their popularity is affordability.
01:47Even though we open a cafe, our mindset, we want everybody, every gen of our community can have tea at our shop.
01:56That's why the first shop until now, we still fixed 1.50 cents per glass tea in the first shop.
02:02And that was signature until now, we keep that.
02:05After building a loyal following with two outlets in Penang, Rizwan took the next bold step, opening their third and biggest outlet in Kuala Lumpur.
02:16Here, we tried their signature cutting tea and brew coffee.
02:20The tea leans on the less sweet side, with a perfect consistency, making it easy to want a second or third glass.
02:28Their menu also includes masala tea, vanilla tea and ginger tea.
02:35Pair your tea with a side of biscuits, like these Punjabi ones, which are perfect for dunking.
02:43And there's just something special about drinking tea on their traditional swing from Karakuri, India.
02:48The menu also features cold drinks, and if you're feeling hungry, choose from their variety of hot snacks.
03:06Our favorite was the masala travel bites, more commonly known as paniaram.
03:13Little fluffy balls stuffed with potato masala and served with the tangy mint chutney.
03:19Delicious!
03:25With Tikade eyeing further growth, perhaps even overseas expansion, Malaysians can take pride in this Penang-born franchise.
