So, Molly, we're here with Molly, Molly Wade. Molly, tell us, you've moved back to the Isle of Man. Tell us exactly why.
00:06
I moved back at the start of the year when I heard that Albion were moving back.
00:11
They're a knitwear production company that's moved from London.
00:14
I was previously in London as well, working for Vivian Westwood.
00:18
I got in touch with them because I knew they were moving home.
00:22
Moving home. Moving to the island.
00:24
And I was just really interested in how they were bringing the fashion industry.
00:27
First of all, outside of the city, but also to an isolated place like the Isle of Man.
00:32
So, it's very hard to kind of connect with clients and that sort of thing.
00:35
So, I found it really intriguing.
00:37
And then at the start of the year, when they did move over, they asked if I would reconsider moving back with them.
00:43
And I just decided I would because I think a lot of their values and everything they're doing
00:47
and everything they're bringing to the island really aligns with what I want to do within my field as well.
00:53
So, it felt like right place, right time. I just kind of jumped in feet first.
00:57
And what would you say to perhaps a younger person that's thinking about moving back to the island but not sure?
01:00
Is there a lot of things that you think are worth coming back for?
01:03
It's really tricky because I've been away for about nine, nearly ten years now.
01:07
And you do kind of hold on to that, like, I don't know.
01:13
There's something about a city. There's something about the UK. It's very well connected.
01:16
It just feels a lot more open. There's so much more opportunities.
01:21
And I think it can feel really isolating and almost, like, claustrophobic over here if you've been here all your life.
01:27
But the way I see it right now, I think this company coming over is a great example of how it operates globally,
01:35
but it's doing so from the island. And we see so much more businesses becoming digital or hybrid or whatever it is,
01:41
however you want to call it. And it's making it possible again.
01:45
So if you can find that work-life balance, like, I personally couldn't afford to live long-term in London.
01:50
And I don't think that was in my cards if I wanted to do other things as well.
01:54
So it was kind of about finding a compromise and, like, getting the most out of life as well.
01:58
So I think in, like, the past it's been quite difficult to kind of see where you can kind of build your career on the island.
02:05
But it looks really optimistic to me. I think it's really encouraging to see this happen and then it might encourage more businesses.
02:11
Perfect. Thank you very much.
