00:00For your first time sprinting in the last stage of a Grand Tour, it's a win and it's a win when your teammate wins the overall.
00:08Couldn't be better.
00:10No, really, I mean, we couldn't wish for a better final weekend.
00:15I mean, yeah, yesterday it was, yeah, it was really amazing for the team and today I just had to give everything that was still left in the legs.
00:26And yeah, again, the team made it a lot easier.
00:30I just had to push it until the line.
00:33Can you take us through the last half kilometer of the race?
00:36Yeah, I think we had a plan, but yeah, especially in sprints, it's never easy to do it like perfectly.
00:43But I mean, today, yeah, we really committed and with the whole team first to make it a sprint.
00:49And then with Edo and Wout, yeah, they just went all in.
00:54We were perfect positioned and then, yeah, happy to make it to the line.
00:59Do you see it as one more step in your career?
01:02Yeah, I mean, I was really happy to, yeah, with this duo and making it to Rome and then winning it.
01:09It's really, really special.
01:11And a special dedication because you were wearing a black jersey today.
01:15Yeah, of course, also with the pink accents, I mean, a special day for the whole team.
01:21And yeah, with everyone in mind, I think it's a special day.
01:26Thank you very much.
01:27Simon, yesterday it was hard for you to put words on your achievement.
01:31But today you have a time to realize that you have won the Giro d'Italia.
01:35Honestly, I think it's really still sinking in.
01:38What a huge, huge moment in my career.
01:41Probably, yeah, the defining moment maybe.
01:43And yeah, just incredibly, incredibly proud of the whole team over three weeks.
01:50And now, of course, Olaf just finished it off.
01:53So amazing, amazing, amazing three weeks.
01:55So are you saying that you kept focused because you also had a stage to win today?
02:00Yeah, I mean, actually, we didn't have much of a turnaround last night.
02:04I mean, already, you know, on the plane here to Rome.
02:07So it's been a quick turnaround and we kept the focus.
02:11We knew we had a good chance of Olaf today and he's pulled off.
02:14And for yourself, what does it mean?
02:16Somehow you had the idea yesterday that your career could end now.
02:21I mean, I don't know.
02:24Yeah, it's really for sure it's the defining moment of my career.
02:28There's no doubt about that.
02:29Yeah, I've had some good successes, but I don't think anything comes close.
02:33So I will celebrate for sure and we'll see what's to come.
02:37Congratulations.
03:27Sí, bueno, no.
03:50Muchísimas gracias.
03:51Matz, Malia Ciclamino, from start to finish, ¿cuánto has disfrutado wearing este jersey?
03:58A lot, you know, I have enjoyed this whole giro, really a lot.
04:02Both for myself with my results, but also the results by the team.
04:07So this has been incredible and incredible journey to wear the pink and now to finish it off with this.
04:13It's really nice.
04:15Your best Grand Tour so far?
04:17Yeah, I would say yes.
04:19You won the points classification at La Vuelta before, now at the Giro.
04:23Do you have another step in mind to complete something?
04:27It would be absolutely amazing to complete it with all three Grand Tours.
04:30So for sure that that should be a goal for the future.
04:34What's your strongest memory of this Giro?
04:37I said it yesterday also like one of the strongest and most beautiful was the win of Carlos Verona.
04:43It's one of these guys who's working so hard for everyone else and to see him being able to win himself, it was really beautiful.
04:51And your worst memory, is it losing Giulio Ciccone because you had other ambitions in the team?
04:57Of course that was a bad memory, but I have to say the last two mountain days was also some pretty bad memories.
05:03Congratulations.
05:05Lorenzo, not only you are the king of the mountains of the 108 Giro d'Italia, but you also win by a huge margin.
05:13What is your conclusion?
05:14Well, I'm very happy to stay here and this is the goal of the Giro.
05:20Okay, I win this comp jersey.
05:23We win stage and I'm very happy and now I see the next race of the season.
05:29But do you see yourself going further in this quest for King of the mountains jerseys in different Grand Tours?
05:36Yes, this is one option. My second Grand Tour of the year will be Vuelta, Vuelta Espana, so we will see.
05:45But now I'm staying easy with this jersey and I see Tour of Swiss and the other race before Vuelta.
05:53Will you come to the Giro d'Italia with other ambitions, bigger ambitions?
05:58My first ambition when I pass pro is the GC. So in the next year we can see, but I like a race like this to see only stage and the King of the mountains.
06:13But we will see.
06:14Complimenti.
06:16We're in Rome. Yesterday you said in Spanish that all roads lead to here. 21 years of age and you're one of the winners. What's the feeling?
06:26Really good. I have almost one year for every stage and this is so nice. So far I am super happy. Of course, disappointed because we don't want to lose the last real day, no?
06:42But at the end I can be proud about all my race. I was always focused and always in the front. And I think I proved to me like I can do it.
06:51And thanks for the teammates. I was always there. It's such an incredible sport. It's an incredible feeling. And I cannot believe the team helped me to be in this position. It's a dream.
07:05You in the position of the best young rider. What does it mean for your future?
07:10For me, in reality, it means such a special feeling. But, yeah, the end is incredible, to be honest. Yeah. Every young rider wants to wear this, no? And don't be too ambitious with the GC. And I was so near and then it's like super crazy. I cannot believe I'm this guy. And, yeah, I'm dreaming. But for sure I will come back hungry for more, no?
07:39Thank you for everything. Thank you for everything. Thank you.
