00:00Today, no one won a monument five times in a row before.
00:05No one won in Lombardia with the rainbow jersey twice.
00:08Do you feel special? Do you feel unique right now?
00:11No, I mean, everybody can feel unique and everybody is on their own.
00:18But yeah, to win five times in a row, every time I start,
00:25it feels that this course, this race is really suited for me.
00:32But also in the same time, I have such a good team around me
00:38that we can pull it off. And yeah, I'm big thanks to all the teammates.
00:44Did everything happen as you planned today?
00:47Yeah, Dorman did a fantastic job.
00:50Dan Powell was also really impressive today.
00:55And then all the guys leading out on the final climb
01:00and protecting me from behind.
01:02It was like top class work and just impressive stuff from the teammates.
01:10Yeah.
01:11No one before made the podium of all the monuments of the year.
01:17You've won the Tour de France, you're world champion, European champion.
01:21What do you say about your season?
01:23Yeah, I always say seven years in a row, I say this is my best season far.
01:28And again, I can say this is the best season so far.
01:32Well, World Championship, European Championship, Il Lombardia.
01:38Three races in a row where second is the best possible result.
01:42Yeah, seems to be like that.
01:44But yeah, I think there was nothing to do again today.
01:47I did my race was feeling pretty good again.
01:50So yeah, just happy with the result and with the feeling
01:54and also to add my season on a high level like this.
01:57So yeah, I need to be happy.
01:59Take us through the moment when today sped up.
02:03Yeah, I mean, they were going quite fast already from the bottom.
02:06So I mean, we were quite fast with only five or six guys left.
02:13And then, yeah, then he attacked.
02:15So at that moment, it was all about just doing my own rhythm and pace.
02:19And yeah, then just try to ride as fast as possible.
02:23So yeah, I tried.
02:27But in the end, Tare was the strongest again.
02:32With the crowd at the end, did you have that feeling that cycling is a very popular sport
02:40because of what you guys do these days?
02:42Yeah, maybe too popular because two motorbikes were blocked in front of me on the last climb.
02:47So I had to stop at some moments.
02:50So yeah, it was really nice to see all those crowds.
02:53But sometimes it's a bit too packed on a narrow climb like this.
02:56But yeah, I think everything went well.
02:59And yeah, it's amazing to see so many people on the road for us.
03:02How is it to finish your time with this team on a high note?
03:08Yeah, pretty good.
03:09I think I've showed again that even if I switch teams, I'm not letting the other team down.
03:15So I really wanted to give my best again and finish as high as possible.
03:19And the second was again highest as possible today.
03:22So very happy with that.
03:24And yeah, now it's time to look forward, finish this, I mean, end this chapter.
03:29And yeah, take all the memories with me in the rest of my life.
03:33So really grateful to be to have been the leader of this team.
03:36And now it's it's time for something new.
03:38Thank you very much.
03:40Michael, how does it feel to stand on the podium with Tadej Pogacar and Remko Evenepoel in a big race like in Lombardia?
03:48It's extremely special.
03:49I think it's the most important result of my career.
03:52And it's the best way to top off what has already been a really, really great season for me.
03:58So I'm just super happy and I'm proud of, yeah, how the race went today.
04:04Like the team's effort, like always supporting me.
04:08And it's just great to be able to deliver such a big result.
04:13Tell us about the important moment of the race when Tadej went and you were still there fighting with the others.
04:20Yeah, Tadej just rode away from everyone.
04:23The pace was super hard from the bottom of the Paso Ganda.
04:27And it was just about trying to survive to the top.
04:31What came through your mind in the last kilometers? How were your legs?
04:36Oh, my legs were broken.
04:39I could hardly turn a pedal stroke anymore towards the finish, but I was just glad that the last 3K were downhill.
04:46You're only the second Australian to stand on the podium of this race.
04:51And the first one, Phil Anderson, was almost 40 years ago, also third.
04:56What does Lombardia mean for you?
04:59Yeah, Lombardia is, yeah, a super important race.
05:03It's a monument and it's extremely special to only be the second Australian on the podium in this race.
05:12Well done, mate.
