00:01How special is Il Lombardia for you, the last big race of the year?
00:07It's really special, no? It's the last race, important race of this year.
00:14The shape is good. Mentally, we are a bit tired, but we want to try to give everything to take the best results.
00:23How special is it to be the Italian rider of the moment in the absence of Ciccone?
00:31Yeah, it's a big responsibility. We know that this is not really my preferred race because it's really hard.
00:40The climb is a bit longer for me, but we are here. We want to try to give the best.
00:47Without Ciccone, it will be difficult for our riders Italian to do a big result, but we want to try to give everything.
01:00How do you feel at the start of your first monument? What is a monument in your mind?
01:06It's something huge. There's only five in the year, and this is one of the five biggest classics in the world.
01:13And so to be at the start of my first season of professional, it's crazy.
01:22It's just something that wants you to do some great, great day.
01:29You're not only at the start. You're also one of the big names already. It goes so fast.
01:35Do you see yourself again on the podium with Pogacar and Liverpool?
01:39Oh, I mean, it will be so difficult today. And I need to see how I feel after the European.
01:49And today we will see and just doing my best all the day and empty the tank for the rest weeks to come.
02:00Is it a terrain you like with lots of ups and downs?
02:05Yeah, of course, it's something that I like. The course is when I see it at first, when I was younger, I was thinking that in the future, it was something that could be good for me.
02:18And today I need a part of it. And so we'll see. But I think I will like it.
02:24But what does the third place at the World Championship Championship change for you?
02:34Yeah, I mean, I think it's just just proved again that I can race against some of the best riders in the world.
02:39And yeah, for sure, the world is probably my best result today. And yeah, it's just give me confidence. I can carry on doing that.
02:45Are you still fresh, motivated? Yeah, for sure, motivated, fresh, maybe not so. But yeah, I'm going to give it a go. And I felt good on Tuesday. So yeah, you never know today.
02:56Is on paper in Lombardia your favorite classic?
03:00It's definitely a beautiful one. You know, this area is amazing. And we get to spend a bit of time here before the race. So yeah, for sure, it's a good race.
03:06Thank you. Thanks.
03:08At the start of Lombardia, what's your message to the people who think that Tadej Pogacar has won even before the race starts?
03:16I mean, we're here to try and win the race. It's something that the team wants me to race for. So it's going to be the same today. And yeah, we're just going to go all in to try and win the race.
03:28What would make you happy for your last race with your first team as a professional?
03:31Just the best result as possible to do at least as good as last year and try to be in the fight as long as possible and hopefully fight for the win. Yeah, that would be great.
03:42Tom, this is your first in Lombardia. What was the idea you had of this race before, like some years ago?
03:50To be honest, it's never really a race I've watched. I've never, yeah, I don't know much about it, but being here, you know, I see the history. I see, yeah, how nice, especially when the weather is good, how nice this time of year is. It's a really, really nice race to be at.
04:09You were supposed to race last year. What do you make of your change of team one year ago and how different are you one year later?
04:18Yeah, I think definitely I'm I'm stronger. So I think then last year, of course, last year I didn't get to see what this race was like, but we'll see what would make you happy today?
04:30What would make you happy today? Ah, podium will be good. Thank you. After racing the World Championship for Pogacar, how is it like to race in Lombardia against Pogacar?
04:39Hard. I mean, I also try to do my best in in Kigali, definitely. And yeah, the way he's going the last, I mean, let's say the whole year or the last years will take us a bit longer.
04:58No normally to come to the finish. So what to do against him? Sorry. What to do? Ah, what to do? To finish as fast as possible. No, then you suffer less time, but you have to go harder.
05:13The last time with Rafa Maika, who helped you win for in Lombardia already. How special is that? Yeah, it's really special. Today is Rafa's last race.
05:26It's one of the biggest race of the calendar. We won it four times in a row together and let's try to win it again to end his career with a beautiful day.
05:40Can you explain that it is not as easy to win as people think? No, people always think, especially when they see all the champions that are winning all the time.
05:52Yeah, we can go into this discussion for a long time, but yeah, it's never easy to win. It's never easy to be here on the start of the biggest races even and to do all these parkours like today.
