00:00Grand Piemonte in its 109th edition, running from Dogliani to a finish at Acquiterme, 179 kilometres, including a 33 kilometre finishing circuit.
00:19As ever with Grand Piemonte, not the big climbs but a series of short sharp climbs would determine the winner on an unpredictable race.
00:27A stacked field as ever for Grand Piemonte, two days ahead of the last really big appointment to race, Lombardia.
00:34A number of Italian teams measuring themselves and pitting themselves against the very best of the World Tour.
00:40UEE Team Emirates looking confident and as ever bringing a strong team.
00:44As the flag dropped though, it was Q36.5 which were one of the teams trying to get in the breakaway of the day.
00:51It took a while for the break to go and at first there were seven riders up the road.
00:56That got whittled down quite quickly though and within the last 60 kilometres, Kenton Herrmanns was off the front with two other riders including Jan Tratnik.
01:04Behind them, Jascha Zuttelin, Matteo Trentin and Odd Christian Eiching were the chasers caught in the middle of a peloton that was being led by UEE Team Emirates.
01:14Riding in support of the pre-race favourite, Isaac del Toro.
01:18The Castelletto d'Ero climb, which they were to take on twice, would be the deciding place where this race would be fought.
01:26And on the first ascent of the climb, the three riders managed to hold on to their lead at the beginning.
01:31But with UEE Team Emirates and now Astana riding behind, the pace was getting ever higher.
01:36Yardi van der Lee from EF Education and Eddie Dunbar counter-attacked and then towards the top of the climb,
01:43Isaac del Toro made the first of his moves, being hunted down by last year's winner of Grand Piemonte, Nilsson Paulus.
01:50At the top of the climb though, Tratnik, Odna Holter of Uno X and Günther Hermanns of Alpesin de Koenig still had a 50-second lead over a six-rider chase group that got themselves together,
02:01including the veteran Bauke Molina and Mark Hirschi, who'd already finished in second place in Grand Piemonte a couple of years ago.
02:09With 33 kilometres remaining then, the three riders at the front of the race still had a 40-second lead as they took the bell at Acqui Terme and out onto the finishing circuit.
02:20And a second ascent of the Castelletto Dero climb and the chase group of six riders at 41 seconds,
02:28being headed by a terrific performance from the young Dutchman Yardi van der Lee.
02:3220 seconds further back, it was UAE team Emirates Pavel Sivakov who led the field of favourites over the line.
02:40Nilsson Paulus one of them, but dropping a little bit further back in the bunch.
02:44And as they approached the final ascent of the Castelletto Dero climb,
02:50Odna Holter fell victim to the pace at the front, leaving just Günther Hermanns and Jan Tratnik off the front.
02:56But Isaac del Toro, behind, didn't hesitate to attack on the steep lower slopes of the climb.
03:02He swept past Odna Holter and went off in pursuit of the front of the race,
03:05where Mark Hirschi had got to Günther Hermanns and accelerated past him.
03:10The Swiss rider now at the front of affairs, but del Toro hunting him down, getting across to Bauke Molina
03:16and into second place on the road as Einer Rubio tried to battle to stay in contention.
03:21And then Hirschi, Molina and del Toro got together at the front.
03:25With three and a half kilometres to go to the top of the climb then,
03:29Isaac del Toro accelerated again.
03:31And Bauke Molina did well to hold on for a while to his wheel before the Mexican went solo.
03:38Molina and Hirschi getting together, but Isaac del Toro flying away on the descent and over the top of the climb.
03:45Hirschi and Molina taking all sorts of risks.
03:48Behind them, at around about 20 seconds, a group of favourites,
03:53trying to make inroads on this group where Molina was throwing everything into the descent.
03:59To no avail though, as the gap went up, Isaac del Toro riding away from all the chasers and in firm control of the race.
04:08With three kilometres to go, he had 40 seconds lead over Molina and Hirschi,
04:12who were having to ride as hard as they could to keep the Paulus Baggioli group,
04:17with Michael Matthews as well in that group, at a disadvantage of some 25 seconds.
04:23In the meantime though, Isaac del Toro just had 500 metres to go, taking the last sequence of turns.
04:30And towards the finish line, as it kicked up steeply, he knew that he had enough time in the bank to celebrate and coast over the line
04:38to take a 15th victory in this stunning sequence of successes, many of which have happened in Italian roads.
04:45UEE Team Emirates, the dominant team of 2025, and Isaac del Toro, despite the heroics of Tadej Pogaccia,
04:53the rising star of the World Tour peloton. A brilliant victory, winning solo in Gran Piemonte.
05:02It all began for him in 2025 at Milano-Torino, and in the region of Piemonte, Isaac del Toro does it again.
05:09Mexico then, winning ahead of Switzerland's Mark Hirschi with Bauke Mollema in third place,
05:14as the champagne flowed in the 109th edition of Gran Piemonte.
05:22In the top 10 then, Egan Bernal, Andrea Baggioli and Nilsson Paulus, all former champions beaten into the lesser placings,
