00:12The declaration endorsed during the 46th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur was signed by Prime Minister
00:18Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his capacity as ASEAN Chair for 2025, alongside his counterparts
00:24from the nine other Southeast Asian member states.
00:27This replaces the ASEAN 2025 Forging Ahead Together vision, which was launched in 2015,
00:35described by Anwar as a defining chapter in ASEAN's journey of regional integration.
00:41The declaration lays out a long-term strategic roadmap to build a resilient, innovative,
00:47dynamic and people-centered ASEAN community by the year 2045.
00:51He added that the future of ASEAN must rest on the two pillars of sustainability and inclusion,
00:58calling for greater focus on narrowing development gaps, raising living standards
01:03and investing in the human potential of all citizens.
01:07The Kuala Lumpur Declaration on ASEAN 2045 also envisioned ASEAN as a center of growth
01:13in the Indo-Pacific amid shifting global dynamics.
01:16It affirmed the bloc's shared commitment to strengthening regional cooperation
