00:00Hello, this is E-Soup, aka Specific Soup. Right now, I'm reacting to Aurora, The Weight of Missing,
00:08which is an excellent song title. I'm super excited to hear this. I've just been making
00:13reactions to all the bonus tracks from the deluxe version of her album, What Happened to the Heart,
00:20and I've already listened to Dreams featuring Nicole Zignago, and I just got done listening
00:26to Heart's Intuition, and those were both great, and I feel like this is going to be, like, an
00:33emotionally heavy song. Like, the song is called The Weight of Missing. I've pulled up the lyrics
00:39from Genius Lyrics. They may or may not be totally accurate since this just came out, but anyway,
00:45I'm just gonna jump right into this, and this video is just a visualizer, so I'm gonna have the lyrics
00:50pulled up.
00:56Oh my god. This is gonna be a sad one.
01:24Oh my god.
01:26The world today has changed.
01:43You're no longer here, and I feel strange.
01:50Oh.
01:51There's, like, these little organic sounds that you can hear in the background. I don't know if
02:02it's, like, paper shifting, like, maybe the sheet music, or if they've purposely added in
02:09little extra sounds, like, in post, or if it's actually organically there right now. I can't
02:15really tell, but it's just, like, giving this certain atmosphere to this. It's almost giving
02:21an atmosphere like you were out somewhere at a cafe, and there's somebody playing piano
02:26and somebody singing, and you were just, like, right there. There were just, like, little
02:29sounds that you could hear. You know what I mean? Like, where you're not at, like, a loud
02:35concert. You're, like, seeing a performance, but everything is quiet around you, but you're
02:40getting all that, like, the, like, little tiny real life sounds, and that's what it sounds
02:45like. I'm gonna go back a tiny bit.
02:47Oh, my God.
03:09Oh, my God.
03:13Oh, my God.
03:28Oh, my God.
03:35Oh, my God.
03:40Oh, my God.
03:43phone. Oh. And though love comes with pain, I never loved in pain.
03:59Oh my god, um, and not, um, on top of everything else, this totally goes with the message of her
04:06other song, her other, um, bonus track that's, like, a new song, Heart's Intuition, that I just
04:12listened to. The idea that, like, where it says, I never love in vain, and though love comes with
04:19pain, I never love in vain. And the other song is kind of about that, too. Like, you have to listen
04:23to your heart's intuition, and it's kind of about being open to what your heart says, even if you
04:29might get hurt, you know, because there's more to life than just waiting to die. So, like, you might
04:35as well take a risk. And this song is kind of focusing on a similar thing, and I just love the
04:42way that even though these are bonus tracks, they fit together. There's, like, still, there's still
04:49a thematic through line, even though some people, like, bonus tracks are just, like, these are extra
04:55songs and whatever, and I just, like, wanted to do them and throw them in on the end, and they don't
04:59necessarily, like, fit in with the album and fit in together with everything else. But I feel like
05:04the choice of these songs and their subject matter is so thoughtful and they fit together
05:10really well. Okay, I'm gonna go back a little bit again.
05:12With pain
05:14I never loved
05:17in vain
05:20I hold on
05:34to all
05:36those days
05:38the times
05:43I had you here
05:45in my embrace
05:48oh
05:49the biggest gift
05:57I ever knew
05:59oh my god
06:01was to love
06:05you
06:06knowing
06:07that
06:08you
06:09love me
06:10too
06:11and all
06:18the big sleep
06:20keeps you
06:22safe
06:24so I thought this was about
06:26with the line
06:27oh
06:28okay so I thought this was
06:30fitting in with the other song
06:32which sounds like it's about someone that she was in a relationship with and then they broke up
06:36that's kind of what heart's intuition partly sounded like it was about I thought that's what this was about too but no this is about someone who died right and now the big sleep keeps you safe and earlier I didn't really pay attention to the fact I thought it was metaphorical that she said while I live on
06:55oh my god
06:57oh my god
06:59oh my god
07:00oh my god
07:02oh my god
07:04and all the big sleep keeps you safe
07:13as she lets you close your eyes in her embrace
07:23now who is who is the her because if the big sleep is death and then it says as she lets you
07:30close your eyes in her embrace is that kind of like mother nature like a metaphorical mother figure
07:37and then it says you can lie here forever in her heart as long as we're apart so i think i think
07:44it must be about death but this is a really interesting series of lines close your eyes
07:50in her embrace
07:52you can lie here forever in her heart as long as we're apart
08:12oh
08:24i can't forgive our stolen time
08:33that i can't just have you sit here by my side
08:40i'm almost certain that says can't
08:42and i know i'll miss you all my years
08:54but the weight of missing you is worth each tear
09:04jesus okay
09:06and still i feel you everywhere
09:15in the sun that rise each morning in summer air
09:28in the mountains that sings in the blossom and spring
09:41in the autumn that cries in each tear that i drive
09:55in the shadows in the snow in the candle that glows
10:09i can feel you i can feel you i can feel you
10:22you'll be with me until we meet again
10:33i wonder what our darling means what does that mean
10:52maybe
10:59first off i just
11:03before i try to figure that out oh my god
11:09what
11:10um okay
11:14that was a lot like what an astonishingly beautiful song giving that a like
11:25but okay something just occurred to me about what that could mean
11:28i was wondering about and now the big sleep keeps you safe
11:32as she lets you close your eyes in her embrace
11:35you can lie here forever in her heart as long as we're apart
11:39so maybe this is about a family member like if i had to take a guess i would say it's about a grandparent
11:46so maybe this could be about like it could be about her grandfather who died
11:53and maybe her grandmother was already dead and so it's this idea that now she's keeping him safe
12:01like they're together again and so that could be what it means at the end
12:06when she says until we meet again our darling and my friend
12:11because like in different ways if it's like her grandfather
12:15they're both like her grandmother's darling in like the romantic way and then her darling
12:20in like a like family way like just a darling person
12:25and then also her friend if she just had like a friend type of relationship with that family member
12:31um i'm just saying grandparent because that makes the most sense for this
12:35and i'm assuming family member but that's the the what i'm getting from this is that it could be
12:41someone where their partner already died and then they died and that's who she's singing about
12:47when she's like talking about she because i was wondering what that meant
12:51but now i think that's not like an abstract concept about someone embracing you in death
12:56i think that's like another person who died but oh my god because i really went into this thinking
13:02it was another song about like the person after a breakup because that was what invisible wounds
13:09had been about which is on the original version of the album and then sort of like a continuation
13:14of that hearts intuition touched on that too so i just came from hearts intuition expecting like oh
13:20maybe this will be about something similar it's just like a more sad song version of that so i did not
13:26know what i was about to get hit by but like the simplicity of this song the piano is so beautiful
13:33and i really love like whatever the sounds that i'm hearing are like if you listen with headphones
13:39or earbuds i think you'll hear it if you listen on a speaker i don't know if you'll hear it that well
13:43but they're just like these little sounds and i can't quite tell what it is but that just somehow
13:49added so much to it and like her singing is just absolutely incredible on this like i feel like
13:55her singing over time she's always been an incredible singer but her singing over time i've noticed it
14:02improve because i feel like she does things she hits like incredibly beautiful high notes like so
14:09purely and perfectly in a way that i'm like i feel like some years back she didn't used to be able to
14:16do it the same way and now she can and it just shows like all of the work she puts in and the maturity
14:25in her sound i don't know what else to say that was incredible and emotional obviously so yeah wow
14:33i've now finished listening to all the bonus tracks for the album that she released as far as i know
14:39there's not going to be any other bonus tracks unless there's like a bonus to the bonus so i think
14:44i've listened to all the bonus tracks now and this one might be my favorite just because of the
14:50impact it has and it's just like so beautiful um so i what what else can i say that was the weight of
15:00missing by aurora i am surprised that this one is a bonus track and not something that she saved for
15:08like a regular album version because it feels so like it could be so quintessential to something
15:14you know what i mean it doesn't necessarily feel like a bonus track but all all of these bonus
15:20tracks have been amazing so until next time this is esoup signing out
