00:00Gujarat is fast emerging as India's cultural conservatory where the past is
00:06not just preserved but powerfully reimagined. Driving this transformation
00:11are ambitious museum projects that redefine how we remember, restore and
00:17relive history. Purged atop, Bhujio Dungar Smritiwan in Birch stands as a
00:24tribute not only to the over 13,800 lives lost in the 2001 Gujarat earthquake but
00:32also to the region's unshakable resilience.
00:39During his visit to Bhuj, Gujarat, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Smritiwan
00:44earthquake memorial museum, calling it a tribute to the victims of the 2001
00:50earthquake and a symbol of the people's resilience. He praised PM Modi's vision
00:57and emotional bond with Kaj, crediting him for preserving the region's collective
01:02memory through Smritiwan.
01:03I thank you to the Prime Minister Modi ji, that he has given the
01:11responsibility of the Nirmand, so that every Bharatwaji can be able to
01:16give the ability of the people of Gujarat and the people of Gujarat.
01:21Another significant project, the National Maritime Heritage Complex in Lothal is taking
01:27shape as a monumental tribute to India's 5,000-year-old maritime legacy.
01:34Located at the site of the world's oldest known dockyard from the Indus Valley
01:38civilisation, the complex will showcase the country's oceanic history, from Harappan
01:44trade routes to modern shipping corridors.
01:49Spread across 400 acres, it forms a key pillar of India's cultural diplomacy and soft power push.
01:57The project recently drew a visit from External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar,
02:04underscoring its national and strategic significance.
02:08This project is a very big project. It is a great project. It is a great project,
02:14our heritage, our heritage, our heritage, our Sanskritity. And this is also a
02:20commitment to the future, because we call maritime power. And you can see that today,
02:27Today, our Sagar and now Mahasagar is a great place in our country.
02:32It is a great place for us.
02:36Moving forward, Varanagar's new Archaeological Experiential Museum,
02:41inaugurated in January, offers a dynamic journey through 2,500 years of history,
02:47showcasing over 5,000 artifacts across interactive galleries
02:52and a rare-life excavation site visible from a viewing bridge.
02:57The ancient town's laid heritage, Buddhist monasteries and Hindu temples
03:03have been brought to life through modern storytelling and technology,
03:07making Varanagar a vibrant center for heritage tourism and cultural education.
03:14Gujarat's New Age Museums are not just architectural landmarks,
03:26they are living classrooms, silent storytellers and intergenerational bridges.
03:33In preserving the past, the state isn't merely looking back,
03:49it's showing India the way forward.
03:52It was striking.
03:53It was striking.
