00:23To preserve its purity, the Government of India launched the Namami Ganga Mission, a flagship initiative to protect the Ganga from pollution.
00:38Under this mission, three sewage treatment plants with a combined capacity of 38.5 MLD have been established in Rishikesh and Muniki Rethi.
00:48Additionally, two more STPs of 8 MLD and 300 KLD are proposed.
00:56As part of this effort, a 7.5 MLD STP was commissioned in 2020 at Chandreshwarnagar, treating around 7.5 million litres of sewage daily from households across the city.
01:12Based on MBBR, i.e. Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor Technology, this STP reflects modern, sustainable engineering.
01:26Notably, it is India's first four-storey STP, built in under 900 square meters, showcasing high-efficiency in limited space.
