Transport secretary Heidi Alexander defends Shabana Mahmood and Wes Streeting after they were caught joking about the early prisoner release system. Speaking in Westminster she said the home secretary and defence secretary have apologised and both take matters relating to the criminal justice system very seriously.

00:22right that they apologised and I reiterate that my thoughts are with the family of PC
00:27Andrew Harper, it was a horrific crime and there were three individuals in that car, the
00:36one with the longest sentence has been excluded from the early release process and his release
00:43from prison will be subject to the decision of the parole board.
