00:00Here we are today with a special presentation for the 400,000 Step Challenge which I organised in April.
00:06Lots of people got involved in it, the groups, the charities and everything.
00:11So it's been really popular and actually when we total everything up it's accumulated to 10 million steps with everybody who's been involved with it.
00:19So today has been the presentation.
00:21Lots of sponsorship from different businesses, but actually getting people out there walking and exercise and all the groups.
00:27So I'm really pleased to say that I was the winner.
00:30So that's really a bit of a bonus for me, but the bonus is that everybody got healthy and walking and enjoying the country parks.
00:37So I'm thrilled to say that I've just taken on a challenge by Councillor Reedy and that was to complete through the whole of April 400,000 Steps.
00:46No mean feat when you've got a desk job.
00:48So I tasked myself with up in the morning out for a walk straight away before I log on.
00:53I walk every lunchtime and then no nights or rests off the gym.
00:57So basically seven nights a week.
01:00I'm so happy to say that I smashed the target and I did 469,000 Steps throughout April.
01:07The reason behind my hospice funding, my challenge was my husband died 25 years ago of cancer.
01:15And without Wigan and Lee Hospice, honestly, they were just so amazing.
01:19The support that they gave, not just to Mick, but to us as a family.
01:23You know, they just went the extra mile and were so loving and caring.
01:27And it was quite appropriate, actually, that this coincided, this challenge, with the 25-year anniversary of him passing away.
01:35So I thought, well, there's no better tribute.
01:37And I'm sure that Mick would be really proud that I raised £1,000 in total.
