Wigan councillor leads 400,000 step challenge

Coun Chris Ready is encouraging people to walk 400,000 steps in April in memory of popular Aspull resident Derek Bird.

00:00Hi, this is just a reminder for people about the 400,000 step challenge for April.

00:06Everybody's got involved with this, it's really good.

00:08But I think the purpose behind it is we're doing it and it's called Do It For Derek.

00:12He was a local guy who died of an heart attack.

00:14It's related to me so people will know that anyway.

00:17But really well known in the village.

00:18So we've got GoFundMe which you'll see on this page.

00:21Lots of people are doing it.

00:22All the Wanneries people are involved.

00:24People across Wigan and doing it for different areas.

00:26But please can you donate to GoFundMe page and try and let's get that target and remember the guy.
