00:00We learned that resilient people tend to be funny. They were very funny, but it was dark.
00:05It was dark, dark, dark humor. But they all had this commonality about it. And we got so curious,
00:12why are resilient people so funny? And at first we thought it was a defense mechanism. It was just
00:16like a shield. But what we later learned is that, for example, when you laugh, your body releases a
00:23natural tranquilizer. So for that moment in time, your pain receptors are blocked, which means you
00:28cannot feel pain. Now that doesn't mean it solves all your problems, but what it does allow you
00:33is to have a moment of reprieve. It just allows you to be able to carry the weight of the world
00:39and just get a little bit of a break from the relentlessness of some of the hard parts.
