00:00hello dudes we all used Windows XP and enjoyed using it and sometimes we feel
00:08nostalgic for it I have a dedicated machine where I installed Windows XP I
00:14thought at the beginning of playing around with Windows 2000 I faced some
00:20issues with it probably due to the limited compatibility between Windows
00:252000 and the machine Windows XP sounds like it works better and I had to
00:32upgrade to it one of the features that I wasn't able to experience really well or
00:38maybe not at all is the remote desktop utility this is not a demonstration video
00:46as much as it is a video of nostalgia so I wanted to share with you my experience
00:54for the second time because I did this before on off cam of remote desktop you
01:03can do this on any machine as long as it has the viewer or a client of RDP since
01:10this is an RDP protocol thing the RDP server here is Windows XP machine whether
01:19it's a virtual machine or real machine like mine over here it's to my right so
01:26in my case I'm using Linux and I'm gonna connect using the commonly used the
01:34commonly used RDP client which is Remmina so here I open Remmina you open the
01:46command line by typing Windows and R and type CMD follow me with this CMD I'm doing it it's
01:58still off cam you press enter you get the command prompt I have to I'm gonna close one
02:04of them and you type ipconfig on one word and you get IP address that one as long as you are
02:14connecting the two computers on the same router they should simply connect one to
02:19another that IP address you type it on your client like mine here so 10.0 in my
02:28case .1.95 enter this is not necessarily a secure tool and speaking of the security is not one
02:43it's not something that's in the scope of this video so sounds like it failed I when
02:52I have done this it was on a fresh installation of Windows XP it was working
02:56well so let me find out what's the reason so advance it
03:11this is not XP I guess on my computer properties and then at the remote
03:22okay so I guess there is remote desktop we should enable allow users to connect remotely to this
03:31computer I'm gonna show you shortly after I try to connect from my viewer where you see me recording
03:41here close let's press enter again all right so the user name should be like this the password okay
03:51yes so the connection was successful this I didn't need to do this when I was or
04:00when I yeah when I tried it for the first time so here on the system properties and
04:06if you don't have this enabled if it didn't work for you just come here click properties with your
04:15your here with the right mouse button go to properties on my computer and then go to remote and
04:24then select this one allow users to connect remotely to this computer enable it and then click
04:30apply and then okay if you want to close this window or you can simply close it this way so for the
04:37the command prompt as I said to you you simply go to this IP address that is on that should be on the
04:43same network if it is on a different network which is never recommended unless you apply enough
04:50security you may need to enter your static IP address or your dynamic DNS address or whatsoever and
05:07and then you connect to it so we experience it somehow the the remote desktop together it's not as good as
05:28as it like as the first time I did it I guess that's it for this video thank you for watching
05:37please subscribe like share and comment and cheers
