Harrods hit by cyber attack amid wave of retailer hacking incidents

Harrods has become the latest high-profile UK retailer to fall victim to a cyber attack amid a wave of hacking incidents.

00:21attack on Marks and Spencers that has forced the London-based retail chain to suspend online

00:33However, Harrods has reassured its customers the entire department store, Harrods Beauty

00:41stores and airport stores remain open.

00:46They have also confirmed customers may continue to shop via Harrods.com.

00:52Meanwhile, Marks and Spencers confirmed on Thursday it had taken down all job adverts from its careers

01:01website while it dealt with the fallout of a cyber attack.

01:06M&S employs about 65,000 people and has seen its operations disrupted since the Easter weekend.

01:15Contactless payments were effective and click and collect services halted,

01:21though contactless has since been restored.

01:25The Metropolitan Police has since launched an investigation into the attack on M&S.

01:32The Co-op group, which is based in Manchester but of course has a significant presence in London,

01:40has also been affected by an attempted hack.
