Here I am at Bolton Abbey on a beautiful sunny day.
00:10
Yeah, so it's been on my to-do list for quite a while. It's about an hour away from where
00:15
I live. It's in North Yorkshire and the first thing to mention is when you get there, it's
00:21
free entry but you have to pay £15 to park your car. When you've got over that, then
00:29
there is a little shop and a little cubbyhole selling some drinks. You walk past that, turn
00:35
right and you get to a wall which has got a gate and you go through that and wow, it
00:43
opens up and you see what Bolton Abbey is all about. I was expecting the ruins of the Priory
00:49
which dates back to about 1100 and something but what I wasn't expecting was such a beautiful
00:56
area. I believe that it spans about 30,000 acres. There's a river that runs through it
01:01
with these stepping stones and yes, people do queue up to get across them and one of them
01:06
is missing so be very careful.
01:08
But there's also a beach area to play on and dig in, skimstones. There's woodlands. The whole
01:15
area is dog friendly apart from one part of the wood I believe. There was an ice cream van
01:20
there, selling drinks and ice creams. It is a wonderful day for the whole family. That's
01:28
kind of their slogan and it absolutely is. There was lots of areas we didn't have a chance
01:34
to explore but we will be back. We will be getting the fishing nets and taking a picnic.
01:38
It was absolutely wonderful and yes, I begrudgingly say that it was worth a £15 entry.
