00:00If you want the ability to search and count the number of times a value occurs like this, this is how you can do it.
00:06First, select the data set that you want to work on.
00:09Make sure you're on the Home tab here.
00:11Under Styles, click on Conditional Formatting.
00:14In here, select New Rules.
00:17Here you'll be selecting Use a formula to determine which cell to format.
00:21Then in this formula section, enter this formula, count if, C2 to C6, which means C2 to C6 is where you'll be entering the numbers.
00:31And then A2 is the beginning of your data set.
00:34Now, select Format.
00:37In here, click on Fill.
00:39And I'm going to select a yellow color.
00:42And click OK to close.
00:44And OK to close Formatting Rule.
00:47Now, every time you enter a number, say 188, you can see those numbers that appear in this data set will get highlighted.
00:55Now, to count the number of occurrence of this particular number here, simply use this formula.
01:00Count if AA.
01:02AA pertains to the whole column of A.
01:05C2 is what you're looking for on this column.
01:08And hit Enter.
01:09As you can see, 188 appears twice.
01:13I'm going to apply this to C2 all the way to C6.
01:17Because I have done conditional formatting from C2 to C6.
01:20Now, if you were to enter, say, a number, say 22, you can see 22 has appeared twice.
01:26What about 42?
01:27It has appeared once.
01:29And 123, it has appeared none.
01:32And 45, it appeared twice.
01:36What about 32?
