00:00I recently created a video demonstrating how to insert a blank row after every other row.
00:05However, a viewer has raised an interesting question.
00:07What if I want to insert a blank row after every 6th row instead?
00:12So that maybe he or she could put a subtotal.
00:14Something like this.
00:16Whatever the reason it is, here's how you do it.
00:18First, I'm going to find the number of branches I have.
00:21Just highlight column A like this.
00:23And if you look at the bottom here, you can see 26.
00:26Which means I've got 26 items in this column.
00:30Minus 1 will be 25.
00:32So essentially, I've got 25 branches.
00:34If you count 25, it goes like 1, 2, 3, and so on.
00:38So I've got 25 of them.
00:40Next, you're going to do is you're going to fill column D with a series of numbers here.
00:45Going from 1 all the way down to the very last row on your data set.
00:49So I'm going to highlight that and put a sequence of numbers running all the way down to the very last row of your data set.
00:56Then you're going to place your cursor at the very last empty row like this.
01:00And you're going to say 6 and 12.
01:02The reason for 6 is because you're trying to skip every 6th row.
01:06You're going to put a blank.
01:08That's why you're going to say 6, 12.
01:09And then you're going to highlight 6 and 12 like that.
01:11And you're going to do 6 times table 25 times something like this.
01:16The way you tell whether you've got 25 of them or not is by looking at this count here.
01:21Now you can see I've got 26.
01:23I'm just going to get rid of 1 here.
01:24Now you've got 25 of the 6 times table.
01:27So now you go all the way to the top like this.
01:30And then you're going to press Ctrl-Shift-L to enable filter.
01:34Then you're going to filter your data set table based on column D.
01:39You're going to click on this arrow here.
01:40A context menu will appear.
01:42You're going to say short smallest to largest like this.
01:45And you can see every 6th row there's a blank space like that.
01:51So as part of a cleanup what you're going to do is you're going to right click on column D.
01:56And basically say delete.
01:57And to get rid of filter you press Ctrl-Shift-L again one more time.
02:01And then you can add your subtotal and all the good stuff.
02:04And then you're done.
