00:00So I love to talk to pet owners about the general care of their pet through the veterinary clinics,
00:07especially through my clinic, that I do believe in vaccines starting off as a puppy or kitten,
00:15but just minimize them. I agree with giving one starting at eight or nine weeks and then another
00:22one about 14 weeks and that's about it with the distemper vaccine. The rabies vaccine at six
00:31months old and then a year later. Then after that I do believe in taking titers and more and more
00:38veterinarians are signing on to that philosophy that if you take the titers, which titer means level,
00:47so it's the level of antibodies in the blood after the vaccine a year or three later and that will
00:56tell you if the dog or cat is still getting protective levels of antibodies from that vaccine years ago.
01:07So that's one thing and I do believe also in chiropractically adjusting the pet. Now understand
01:14this is a holistic practice which means I do conventional medicine plus I do alternative
01:19medicine and I wish that every veterinarian would do chiropractic because it tends to not only improve
01:28the functioning of the nervous system but it also helps the immunity of the pet and the research shows
01:35that pets live a lot longer if they get chiropractic adjustments regularly and it helps to minimize
01:44chronic diseases which really in my mind are the real crux of saving money but also giving the pet
01:54longevity and quality of life for a long long time and so that brushing the teeth and brushing
02:01the coat and thumping the thymus are good things to do at home but I as a veterinarian can help by
02:07giving chiropractic adjustments once every six months. There's a series that leads up to the six
02:13months but then once every six months maintains the pet for a long long period of time with a great
02:19quality of life and that's my main focus of veterinary medicine. There's lots of things that
02:26we do to prevent problems as well but I just wanted to focus in on the main ones and we do have brochures
02:34that talk about the yearly care through the veterinarian and for each stage of the pet's life
02:42it's sort of a checklist of what to do and there's other things that we could talk about but
02:51these are the major ones.
