00:00Well, this is live radio, my friend.
00:04They're Uber pulled up in the form of a golf cart.
00:06We've got Jason, the guitarist, and of course Ben, the mastermind, both of them actually, of Breaking Benjamin.
00:12Guys, how are you today?
00:14We're doing great. Happy to be here.
00:16Doing great. How are you?
00:17I'm great. First of all, is this your manager? That's what I want to know.
00:19Yes. Say hi.
00:21Hi.
00:21What's your name?
00:23Ben.
00:24Ah, this is your boy?
00:25Yeah.
00:26Oh, fantastic.
00:26Can you tell?
00:27Hey, man, good to meet you. Good to meet you.
00:29Your dad's a great guy. He's got a lot of fans in the world. I'm sure you know that, right?
00:33He could run for president.
00:35Technically not.
00:36Yeah, that wouldn't be good for anyone, believe me.
00:39I love it.
00:40So I was talking to your photographer, Dominique, and she was saying that it's been a long tour since, I guess, early July you guys have been out, huh?
00:48Yeah, we started early July. I think we're just over the halfway mark, right?
00:52Yeah, I don't know.
00:53We end like that first week of September, I think.
00:54Yeah.
00:54So we kind of have been on pace with doing one of these long ones a year.
00:58How has this tour differed from the previous tours? I caught you guys two years ago. I think it was with Five Finger, I want to say.
01:06Yeah, yeah.
01:06Yeah.
01:06How has this tour, like, differ from that, from other tours?
01:09Hot.
01:10Yeah, it's been hot.
01:11It was very warm.
01:11Yeah.
01:12Today's a great day, though, actually. Not that bad.
01:13Yeah, not that bad, comparatively.
01:15Yeah, yeah, exactly.
01:17But still hot.
01:18Yeah, yeah, absolutely. And you guys have been doing it a long time. It's nice to have, with your contemporaries, with Disturb, you guys have both kind of had the same, you know, career arc here of the last 20 years.
01:28Yeah, and we did a tour together, I think, six or seven years ago.
01:31Yes, 2016 was actually our rap fest.
01:34Yeah, it was great. The guys are awesome. We've been able to keep in touch all these years. You know, they took some time off. We obviously had some time off in COVID, and so to come back and be able to see those guys play together again is awesome.
01:44So now, when people come to the show tonight, they get ready for the Breaking Benjamin performance, what are some of the things they are going to see a little bit differently from the stage set up in past years, or maybe a set list that's a little bit different? What are we doing? Some different things?
01:59Well, yes. We're playing a little shorter set list than we typically do in about an hour, so that means we get to cram everything in there.
02:07Nice.
02:07So it is a, you know, I think we got a couple minutes to say hi and high five and that's it. It's just radio music all the way through.
02:14So it's going to be a fun show. We didn't bring any fire this time simply because, what did you say? It's hot.
02:20Yeah.
02:20Yeah. Some days we've had sun on our face. It's been a little brutal.
02:23I like the, it's not the fire. It's that, you guys do that like fog that shot up like a rocket.
02:29Yeah.
02:30Yeah.
02:30Yeah, that cryo back in the day we used to use that. That was actually cool.
02:33Yeah.
02:34It was very cool.
02:35I only know two words.
02:37That's right. That's okay.
02:38I know seven.
02:39I'm a singer, so.
02:39I'm a DJ at seven. That's about it.
02:41But, uh, so I want to ask you guys, uh, Ginger, what, what, you know, this is kind of new to my radar. Uh, I, I watched a few of their videos. I'm, I'm impressed and amazed. How about you guys?
02:51Yeah, they're great. Uh, they're loud.
02:53Yeah.
02:54Loud and fast.
02:54Yeah.
02:55So it's kind of cool.
02:57Yeah. Oh, it's pretty remarkable.
02:58Yeah.
02:58Fantastic.
02:59It's been fun.
02:59So, what do you do on the downtime when you guys are just kind of hanging out in the, uh, in the, uh, tour bus and whatnot?
03:06You just nerd out and play video games.
03:07What's your video game of choice?
03:09Fallout 4.
03:10Yeah, I think my son's into that too.
03:11Yeah, it's older, but I play it in VR, so.
03:14Ah, there you go.
03:14Yeah.
03:15Do you get on the headphones with, with the other people and they're like yelling at you?
03:18No, no, no.
03:19I don't do them all the time.
03:20Because that would be cool, right?
03:21Yeah.
03:21Little Benny.
03:22You got to watch him because he's.
03:24Yeah, very cool.
03:25So, uh, so the tour wraps up, I guess, in a couple of weeks, uh, and then what, what's the next step for, uh, Breaking Benjamin?
03:32Uh, take some, a couple of weeks at home to kind of recoup around.
03:34Yeah.
03:35It always takes that down time and then back into working on some new music and stuff, so.
03:39Absolutely.
03:39So maybe we can expect something in, uh, 2024, 2024.
03:42That's news to me too.
03:43Maybe.
03:46Listen, I know you guys only have a few minutes.
03:48I just want to take a minute on behalf of the RAT staff.
03:50Uh, you guys have been one of our core artists for the last 20 years.
03:53It means a lot.
03:54And it means a lot to us, but it means so much to our listeners.
03:57So on behalf of the listeners and everyone, we love you guys.
03:59And if we could do RAT Fest every year with you guys, it'd be the best.
04:02Because you guys are aces.
04:03Sign us up.
04:04Yeah.
04:04Absolutely.
04:04We love you guys.
04:0520 years has been incredible.
04:07Thank you so much.
04:07Breaking Benjamin, ladies and gentlemen.
04:09Let's continue on with the RAT Rock.
04:10Thank you guys so much.
04:11All right.
04:12Take care.
