St. Pete Police Officer Honored By High School Sweetheart For First Responder Friday

00:06Let's honor another First Responder on 99.5 QYK.

00:11It is First Responder Friday. We have Sarah on the phone today who is honoring her husband.

00:16Good morning, Sarah. How are you?

00:18Good. How are you?

00:19I'm doing very well. We're glad you're on the show.

00:21All right, so let's talk about your husband, Ryan. Tell us how he serves our community as a First Responder.

00:26Yeah, so we both are high school sweethearts, and we grew up in New Jersey, and he comes from a long line of police officers.

00:35His grandfather was a police chief in our hometown for many years.

00:38He has multiple cousins and uncles in law enforcement, so that really kick-started him wanting to become a police officer.

00:46So he looked around, and we found San Diego, California, and we were there for four years where he was a police officer.

00:52And in those four years, he was an acting detective and a field training officer.

00:57Wow.

00:57And then we moved to Florida to be closer to family, and now he's with St. Pete.

01:02Oh, wow.

01:03So, I mean, I love the fact that there's a history of this in his family.

01:06So since you guys were high school sweethearts, you knew he was going into this line of work.

01:11Yeah, we took a few turns maybe wanting to be a math major or doing something like that,

01:16but ultimately his heart was with serving his community as a police officer.

01:20So what do you guys love to do here in St. Pete?

01:24What have you found to do that you love together?

01:26Oh, my goodness.

01:27We just, well, first of all, we're coming from weather that was great in San Diego,

01:31and now here it's even better.

01:34We love going to the beach.

01:35We like going kayaking or paddleboarding.

01:37We like taking our dogs for a walk and doing anything we can outdoors.

01:40That's great.

01:41What do you think, I mean, you've known him since high school.

01:43What do you think, or what's something you've seen in him since he was, you know,

01:4816 years old or whatever that makes him great at his job?

01:53Yeah, he has such a great heart.

01:55He does everything he can to help someone when he can.

02:00I'm just so proud of him for everything that he does every day, not just in his job,

02:06but in, you know, our life as well.

02:08He is just such a great man, and I'm really proud of him.

02:11I've seen him grow.

02:12We've grown up together.

02:13We've grew together, and I love seeing how much he's flourished in all of our years together,

02:18especially these past few.

02:23I know you guys have been here since about July, but welcome.

02:27And you're a great woman for following him around with his career.

02:30I mean, started in Jersey, then California, now Florida.
