00:42version but yeah i mean it really just happened so naturally i wrote this song with charles and
00:47my producer casey back in 2018 when i was on tour with lady a and so i mean in my in my young brain
00:56writing this song i was like oh dude i'm writing it with charles lady is gonna love this song like
01:01it's gonna be a huge hit for them and as as we kind of like lived with the demo charles was actually
01:06singing the demo but i was just like this is my story you know this is me and my wife getting back
01:12from our honeymoon i got dropped from my songwriting deal i had zero dollars coming in and that you know
01:18that's verse one and then verse two is about us on the road together me and my wife first three about
01:23us finding out we're pregnant and so it really was like my autobiographical story and i was like
01:28man i have to record this song and so after i lived with it for a while my version obviously it's been
01:34at radio uh it really just felt so natural and easy to to ask lady a to be on it because lady a is such
01:42a huge light in country music and that's what i'm trying to do as well so this collab just came so
01:47naturally and uh man i'm just so honored to have the magic of lady a on this song now yeah definitely
01:54definitely kind of brings a new element to it dave with all your success why work with russell no i'm
01:58just telling you i'm just kidding oh my god russell i love you guys are the best russell's our family
02:05i mean like he was saying we toured together all of 2018 uh pretty sure we toured right through
02:10your area as well with with with our tour oh yeah oh yeah and uh that's uh that was just a great year
02:16i mean it was you know half of the year you're out touring you become family you're having meals all day
02:21long together so we honestly we've been we felt like brothers ever since you know that year i mean
02:26obviously working together now is just icing on the cake but everywhere we go i mean these award shows
02:31all the things we get to do when we see each other we're always like hanging out with russell and kaylee and
02:35so we were just honored when when russell asked us and i love the song i'm so proud of him and his
02:41star rising so we're uh we're big fans from where we sit listen russell you know i'm messing around
02:46with you for sure of course uh my question dave you know you are so good at you know obviously you've
02:52had to study like how to put great voices together and harmonies and all that but what things what
02:56do you think makes it work so well with russell's voice yeah i mean again you just kind of you know
03:01we got two guys and a lady uh a lot of the three-part harmonies um are covered so you know
03:07our our sort of goal was just how can we elevate and just kind of lift it i mean when that first
03:12chorus comes in you know our whole goal was how do we make this just sound as big as possible we got
03:17to play this live you know about a month ago we played it live in atlanta georgia and oh it was just
03:22like gangbusters it was awesome but yeah i put together all the vocals here in my home studio smart man
03:27in my basement russell came over that day and yeah i love kind of piecing together harmonies
03:32figuring out who's doing what charles was singing a couple lines that were unison with russell to
03:37kind of punch the lead vocal all these sort of like inside baseball things but yeah i mean
03:41just trying to build a good huge sounding chorus was sort of the goal with this one so russell you
03:46know the holidays are coming up i bet your little boy is excited about all the decorations around
03:50the house do you have everything all decorated oh my gosh christmas tree is up it's ginormous
03:56uh as we say in home suite you know we it's about us moving into our new home and everything and
04:02so with that you got to get a bigger christmas tree oh yeah so uh that puppy is up it took uh it took us
04:10an entire day to kind of we got like eight christmas trees my wife loves oh wow so uh we had a we it
04:16literally was in our calendar it was like christmas decorating day nothing else i love that we are those
04:22people russell how's the shoe game by the way because you always have very impressive shoes
04:25oh shoe game i'd say i kind of uh i've taken a break on myself and now have uh moved over to my
04:33son so my son is hacked out beyond belief yeah he needs shoes yeah you know what that's probably
