00:00A political analyst claims that PAS has refrained from aggressively attacking UMNO during the

00:07ayakuning by-election campaign as the Islamic party may still be hoping to rekindle its alliance

00:13with the party. Yusri Ibrahim of University of Malaysia Terengganu said PAS may be holding back

00:19criticism in hopes of reviving its muafakat national pact with UMNO, especially with the

00:2416th general election on the horizon. Yusri said the by-election is being used to

00:29convince Barisan Nacional that continuing their cooperation with Pakatan Harapan in the

00:34unity government is not in their best interest. He said Perikatan Nacional has largely focused its

00:40attacks on Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and the Mandani government, allowing UMNO to concentrate

00:45on their campaign strategy with minimal disruptions. The analyst said PAS is likely playing a strategic

00:51game by keeping the door open for cooperation with UMNO, especially as tensions rise within PN.

00:58On Thursday, FMT reported that PAS may be positioning itself to exert greater influence within PN ahead

01:05of GE16, with the Bersatu source suggesting the move could stem from dissatisfaction with Bersatu's

01:11leadership of the coalition.
