From Valencia to Sangre Grandi, Matura to Matlot,
00:29
the constituency of Tocosangre Grandi sprawls across the northeastern tip of Trinidad.
00:35
Beautiful beaches enclose scenic pastoral landscapes and modern living,
00:39
embodying both the rural and urban.
00:42
The potential of Sangre Grandi, it's within nature, ecotourism.
00:47
You know how long we wanted Sangre Grandi to be a borough?
00:49
Tocosangre Grandi's evolution from a forested area to a vibrant community
00:53
underscores its resilience and adaptability.
00:56
Yet some people still need basic amenities.
01:00
We need a fire station and a TNT depot because TNT has to respond from a rima to come up to the Tocosangre area.
01:10
All we just really need is at least light pole.
01:13
We need a road.
01:14
Eighteen years ago, under the PNM reign,
01:16
the colossal seat of Sangre Grandi was divided into two separate constituencies,
01:21
Tocosangre Grandi and Camuto Manzanella.
01:23
The individual size of each still topping in the largest of the 41.
01:30
While the UNC dominates the latter, the form is considered a marginal seat,
01:35
swinging from the PNM in 2007 to the UNC in 2010 and back to the Red Team in 2015.
01:42
The Sangre Grandi market located in the town borders both areas
01:48
and is controlled by the UNC-led regional corporation.
01:52
But the lines between local and central government remain blurry
01:55
and in a general election, one pays the price for the other.
01:59
Well, the councillors and them not doing anything to upgrade the market.
02:05
They want to curb on the illegal vending.
02:07
Right now, the market isn't dark.
02:10
Right now, we have them to fix the gates and things.
02:13
People can stomach it down there, go through it, climb it, all kinds of things.
02:17
But the area has seen some development,
02:19
with the expansive $850 million Sagre Grandi Hospital campus opened last year
02:25
and extensive construction taking place on the highway extension.
02:29
They're now starting to do something.
02:32
Like they're now waking up after 10 years.
02:34
Resident and son of the soil Roger Munro kept the seat for the PNM in 2020
02:39
with over 3,300 more votes than the UNC.
02:43
Well, the representative that we have,
02:46
I don't see him doing much for Toco at all.
02:48
But Munro is trying his luck again in 2025
02:52
against the yellow team's wean stooge.
02:56
The NTA and Patriotic Front have also entered the free,
03:00
hoping to secure a share of the possible 30,000 votes up for grabs.
03:04
It's a tough fight ahead, and Toco's angry grandi candidates
03:07
are going to have to earn this seat by winning the trust of the electorate.
03:11
The people are not falling for political rhetoric
03:19
and campaign promises this time around.
03:22
Well, it's just yellow team come once,
03:24
and we tell them about the market,
03:26
and they just, whatever.
03:28
Really and truly, if yellow come, red come,
03:31
at the end of the day, I still have to come here and look for my dollar.
03:34
When you look at Toco's and the granny,
03:35
it didn't make much change from when I was a child till now.
03:39
I don't have to see you walking around every day,
03:43
but if I don't see what you're doing on social media,
03:46
I don't know what you're doing.
03:47
Government go and government come, and it's the same procedure.
03:52
She and others aren't holding the government entirely culpable
03:55
for the shabby state of the town,
03:57
as inhabitants also have a responsibility for sanitation and serenity.
04:01
They always have grandi like Rwandong.
04:04
The people not maintaining the building.
04:07
They're not cleaning the street properly.
04:11
Yeah, they're lacking training from the parents.
04:15
A lot of people on the streets.
04:16
Well, the fighting, they must fight real bad, then.
04:19
No time to give a brother, no time to win.
04:22
The chant of a hard man
04:23
In the stale...
04:25
They did a complaining.
04:27
We truly, I don't like everything too easy.
04:29
But some things are out of the hands of the people.
04:32
You see that anyway?
04:33
Grandi.
04:33
Over 10 years are right there, and nobody are coming to fix up.
04:37
But a young juice maker isn't waiting on any politician to help him.
04:40
He is embodying the change he wishes to see in his corner of the world.
04:44
You know, if like with my money, if I could invest my money
04:47
and put things in place where they share them,
04:48
I could be out of this shit, I would like to do that.
04:51
He knows young people like himself who are passionate about their dreams.
04:54
They have the potential to go forward, but lack the finances to do so.
04:59
They need jobs.
05:01
Treat like NTS or something.
05:02
So who are people throwing their support behind on April 28th?
05:07
Yellow is the code because it's nine years,
05:10
and the PNM speaking like UNC wasn't power.
05:13
When did they come?
05:14
They're going over to do.
05:16
They're going with young.
05:17
Well, nobody is coming to the area to find out what's going on us yet,
05:20
so we're just watching and waiting.
05:23
Blackness to blackness, we are getting nothing from blackness.
05:26
Can't it out with anything?
05:28
Hey, hey, that's my...
05:28
And don't change it.
05:29
Can't it out.
05:30
That's my prime minister.
05:33
Pandit, dodger.
05:34
When he's crying, what he's getting under the piano,
05:37
the man may pick up to me and make here a block.
05:39
If I could use two fingers, I would vote for one particular person,
05:44
Mr. Roger Monroe.
05:46
Regardless of who secures victory,
05:49
almost everyone told us their faith lies in a higher power,
05:53
and if the ultimate wishes...
05:54
For the people that I love in this country,
05:57
they love to turn around everything, not money.
06:00
Big big men dying, the crime can't solve.
06:03
A madman around this is the only reason I hear the madman's call.
06:08
As he lie on the wall.
06:10
The Sharambajan Mali, TV6 News.
06:13
This is it, this is it, this is it.
06:14
I've been hit, but no time to give on brother,
06:17
no time to quit.
06:18
A chant of a heart now.
