02:13A homeowner is having an argument with the Homeowners Association.

03:13ladders up, they got reindeer on the roof, but more and more people are hiring those Christmas
03:19decoration companies where, you know, they don't want to be like Clark Griswold, I guess,
03:24you know, falling off the roof and, you know, getting paralyzed or something.
03:28Yeah, I mean, it's a good deal if you want an old decked out house.

03:31So, on November 6th, the Moffa family hired a company to put up the Christmas lights outside
03:38their home.
03:38They hired one of these companies.
03:41And apparently, November 6th was their only availability.
03:45And Mr. Moffa says, I can't climb up on the roof myself.

03:52And he said, I'm not taking him down.
03:54The Westchase homeowner is now facing threats and fines for violating the HOA agreement.

05:32So, on Labor Day, we put up our Halloween decorations outside in our yard because my kids were very
05:37excited to decorate.
05:38Now, Labor Day might be a little early.

05:45So, a couple days later, in the mail, we got a letter from our HOA saying that we were out
05:50of compliance and we needed to remove our decorations within 14 days, or we would be fined $100
05:55a day.
05:56Yeah, that's the same deal here.
05:58So, if the family, the Moffa family in Westchase, they told Channel 8 that if they don't correct
06:05the violation and take down the Christmas lights, which are up too early, they could
06:09be fined $100 a day, up to $1,000.
06:13Same for us.
06:14Same deal.
06:15So, wouldn't they just use standard, like, boilerplate, homeowners, HOA rules?
06:21Laura, I have a question.
06:22When would it have been a legal HOA time to put your Halloween decorations up?
06:27Yes, that's stipulated.
06:29So, it said in the letter that we cannot put the decorations up more than 45 days before
06:34the holiday.
06:35And what's interesting is they gave us two weeks to take down our Halloween decorations.
06:39So, if I had taken those whole two weeks, I would have been within the 45 days.
06:43So, you had to take them down and then put them right back up.
06:45Well, if she would have waited until day 14, she would have been in compliance.
06:49I would have been fine.
06:50Oh, my God.
06:51So, what was the resolution?
06:52It was a waste of time.
