00:00how are you today good we're so glad to be back and who did you bring with us so today we actually
00:14brought you a new little friend his name is Ruben he's so cute he's some sort of sheetzu mix we think
00:21he came in as a stray so obviously we have no idea exactly what he is but he's very sweet he's about
00:28five or six we think okay and he's a little snuggler how long have you had him he's been at
00:36the shelter for about two weeks okay two weeks yeah he is very sweet um he actually qualifies
00:41for our lonely hearts fee so he's only 75 dollars oh that's not bad now what exactly is the lonely
00:48hearts they're usually just dogs that have been at the shelter for a little longer some of them
00:53are dogs that are not necessarily harder to adopt but aren't you know they're not the little puppies
00:59that everybody comes in looking for yeah now he's a great size like he's a small he's perfect he's
01:04about 15 pounds i think i think 15 and a half okay is he gonna grow any bigger than that that is his
01:09full size oh wow he is such a good dog haven't barked not one time since he's been here he was
01:15perfect in the car ride he just sat on the seat and hung out now how is he around new people i know
01:21he's meeting me for the first time he already loves me he's of course he's good he's a little
01:26shy at first especially around loud noises so if you do have kids or other pets we just want you to
01:32introduce them and make sure they know to go slow and just until he gets used to you and your routine
01:38okay does ruben have a favorite toy or activity or or game he seems to like squeaky toys okay but he
01:46doesn't necessarily play with them he just seems to kind of like squeaky um he was chewing on a bone
01:50earlier so i think it's just kind of see what he likes once he's in a home too he might be more apt
01:55to play with some toys i'm sure the shelter is a big big change and a little stressful for the fact
02:01that he came in and doesn't know what's happening did he have any medical concerns when he came in
02:07i don't believe when he came in he did get neutered and then i think one of his eyes looks a little
02:14cloudy which but there's nothing in his file so i would assume he's at all so if someone was looking
02:21to adopt ruben what are the steps they need to take so they can go to metro detroit animals.org which
02:27is our website he is on there his picture his little bio um i think there's actually five or six
02:32pictures so they can check out all that and then they can fill out one of our adoption questionnaires
02:36and there's a spot and they'll just put ruben in and then they'll submit that you can submit it
02:42online or you can actually come to the shelter and meet him and fill it out and then one of our
02:46adoption counselors will go over everything with you and make sure he's a good fit for you and your
02:50home and then as long as everything goes okay you will pay the 75 fee and he is yours to come
02:56oh that is so perfect perfect we have to find ruben a home yes such a good dog he's a good boy yes
03:02and you have a couple of events coming out we do so actually on saturday october 12th from noon to
03:08four is bissell's empty the shelter event that is actually a nationwide event we are one of the
03:13shelters participating and there are 25 adoption fees plus a 10 microchip registration so for 35 you
03:22can get any dog or cat of your choice that's available at our shelter and then that includes
03:26their microchip their spayed or neutered they're up to date on all their age-appropriate vaccines
03:31and it's a great deal for your new companion yeah now is ruben microchipped already yeah oh okay
03:38that's he is all set to go even better so we're gonna find ruben a home yes uh yeah we look forward
03:45to to that and seeing him in a loving home because he is such a great dog i want to take him on with me
03:50i want to take all the animals i i agree it's hard and then our we actually have one more event
03:55our pat's pasta event is october 14th um it is by one of our longtime supporters and volunteers pat
04:00he has a hundred year old um family recipe for meatballs and sauce so he makes those for us it's
04:0735 and then you get it's an open ball with beer and wine and then you get the pasta and the sauce and
04:14salad and dessert bread and we have some raffles and it's just a fun night for everyone
