00:00Hey, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, my name is Jello.
00:02I'm Joanna.
00:03And if you can see there in the middle, that's our friend Justin there.
00:07And on the opposite side of Justin is the beautiful Sarah who works with Friends for Animals.
00:12Hi, Sarah.
00:13Now, we usually do Doggy Dog Thursdays where we typically will talk about you adopting a beautiful dog that needs your help.
00:21But Sarah's got a cat with her by the name of Sprite.
00:24So it's Kitty Cat Thursdays.
00:26Yes.
00:26I don't really think we should call it Kitty Cat Thursdays, though.
00:30I don't think we should use that name.
00:32It makes me very uncomfortable.
00:34So, Sarah, so now we have a cat now.
00:38See, a lot of people out there, I'm a dog person.
00:40Joanna's a dog person.
00:42Justin is a dog person.
00:43But my mom is a cat person.
00:44She loves cats.
00:46And we have Sprite here who is needing to be adopted.
00:50She needs a beautiful home to come to.
00:52Sarah, dive into talking about Sprite a little bit.
00:55So this is Sprite.
00:56She is, as you can see, a wiggly little seven-month-old kitten.
01:01She came with some other litter mates.
01:04And she is the only one left still.
01:06So she is looking for her forever home.
01:09She's about seven-month-old.
01:11You want to show them your face?
01:12Yeah.
01:12She's very snuggly.
01:16She's sweet.
01:16She usually just kind of wants to sit with you and curl up and be loved.
01:22But I think she can see everything that's going on right now.
01:25So she's a little overwhelmed with all of that.
01:28But she is a very good little girl.
01:31She's got her little harness on right now, just in case she decides to go for an adventure
01:37while we're filming here.
01:39Now, normally, Sarah, you would bring the animals down over to the radio station.
01:46But because it's raining outside, we don't want to get little Sprite all wet and rainy
01:50and stuff.
01:50So we're doing this over Zoom.
01:53Now, if people are interested in adopting Sprite, how can they do so?
01:59So they can go to our website, which is MetroDetroitAnimals.org, and fill out an adoption questionnaire
02:04for her due to COVID, all of our adoptions are by appointment only right now.
02:10So once you fill out an adoption questionnaire, one of our adopting specialists will give you
02:17a call and go over your application, make sure your home is a good fit for her.
02:22And if all that goes well, you'll get to come down and meet her and take her home.
02:27So is it the same with the, as you told us last week, with the dog, can you have that
02:33day where you could spend a couple hours with her ahead of time?
02:38We haven't really done it with cats yet, but I'm sure if, you know, we, you wanted to,
02:43we could work something out to do that.
02:45Okay.
02:46And we also have something actually special going on that is starting today.
02:51Danny Shelton from the Lions is actually sponsoring all of our adoption fees.
02:57Oh, that's awesome.
02:58So it'll be for $1,500.
03:00So it'll be from beginning today.
03:03He's actually going to visit us.
03:06And then once the $1,500 has been used up, the event will end.
03:11So if you are looking for a new friend, you can thank Danny Shelton and the Furry Shelton
03:16Foundation for covering your adoption fee.
03:18That is cool.
03:19That is really cool.
03:20An adoption fee is usually like somewhere around $80, $90, right?
03:23Our average fee is about $80.
03:26$80.
03:27Very cool.
03:27So let me ask you this, Erra.
03:29When it comes to a cat, I know when you're, you know, trying to weed out who should adopt
03:33a dog versus a cat.
03:35What are some of the, I don't know, what's some of the rules needed for a cat?
03:40Because I know it's totally different for a dog.
03:41A dog needs a lot of space.
03:42They need to walk often.
03:44What are some of the rules that people need to understand when they're adopting a cat?
03:47I think the big thing is that if you have other animals already, or even just when you bring
03:53a cat home, if you don't have other animals, you need to give them space and time to adjust
03:57to their new surroundings.
03:58It's big, it's scary.
04:00You know, they went from ending up at the shelter and being in a cage to in a big new home.
04:07So we suggest usually keeping them in a room by themselves at first just to, you know, give
04:11them their space that they can get comfortable in.
04:14And cats are a lot easier than dogs.
04:17Obviously, they certainly love and attention and care, but, you know, they have a litter
04:22box, so they don't need to go out as frequently if you work longer hours.
04:26They don't need, I mean, some people take their cats for walks, but, you know, they don't
04:31need to go for walks.
04:32I have a lady in my neighborhood who takes her cat for a walk in a stroller, and it's the
04:37strangest thing I've ever seen in my life.
04:39But listen, it's 2020, and I'm not here to judge anybody.
04:41Yes, I mean, as long as, you know, they have a home that would be safe for the cat and are
04:48willing to give it love and, you know, keep up on veterinary care, that's pretty much it.
04:54Is it currently doing this on your shoulder?
04:55Is it going...
04:56He was for a second.
04:59He's very, she's a very loud purr.
05:02You probably can't hear her.
05:03She was purring when she, when I first grabbed her, but I think she's, I think she's a little
05:08overwhelmed with everything going on as she hides in my arm right now, but it's just not
05:15super loud.
05:17It's okay, Sprite.
05:17We're going to try to find your home.
05:19Hopefully, a wonderful cat lover will see this video, whether it be on our Facebook or
05:24at our website, 105onthebounce.com, and adopt Sprite.
05:29Sprite needs a home.
05:30Look at her.
05:30She's beautiful.
05:31She's sweet.
05:32I wish I could adopt cats, but I'm allergic to them, so I got to, I'm kind of glad that
05:35we're doing this on Zoom right now, otherwise my face will be swollen.
05:40We had, we were thinking a dog, and then I thought, you know, we should take advantage
05:43of the facts that we're on screen so we can not, you know, get you all allergic and...
05:50You don't want that.
05:51You don't want that.
05:52Please.
05:53You think my face is round now.
05:56Yeah, we don't want to kill Dello.
05:58All right.
06:00So, Sarah, real quick, give them the website one more time and any other information they're
06:04going to need in order to adopt Sprite or adopt either one of the animals that you have at
06:09Friends for Animals.
06:10Yep.
06:11So, our website is metrodetroitanimals.org.
06:15You can go to Adopt a Pet.
06:16You can view all of our available pets there, our dogs and our cats, and then you'll fill
06:21out an adoption questionnaire for whoever you're interested in.
06:24One of our adoption counselors will give you a call, and then you can come in and meet
06:29your new friend.
06:30Sarah, you guys are awesome.
06:31What you're doing over there, Friends for Animals, for Metro Detroit, of Metro Detroit.
06:36We have, we're having a lot of fun with you guys.
06:38I appreciate what you guys are doing.
06:40And until next time, we'll see you next Thursday.
06:45We love visiting you guys on Thursdays, even if it's just virtual.
06:49Right.
06:50Hey, look, I'm not going to lie.
06:51Sprite is looking kind of comfortable in your lap.
06:53You might want to make the adoption happen.
06:56I don't know that my huskies are awesome.
06:59No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
07:01I could tell you a story about a husky and a cat, but you probably don't want to hear
07:05it right now.
07:05We don't want to hear that one.
07:06So, we're not going to tell that story.
07:07Thanks, Sarah.
07:08All right, Sarah, we'll talk to you soon.
