Shropshire Slimming World classes collect a mountain of clothes for a charity campaign.

We find out more about a mountain of clothes that has been collected by a number of Shropshire Slimming World classes, for a Cancer research charity appeal.

00:00Here in Oak and Gates at the restroom, and introduce yourself.

00:03I'm Lauren and I am the consultant at Slimming World in Oak and Gates.

00:07And there's a bit of a pile of, what's that in the background? What's going on?

00:11So these are bags of clothes that our members have slimmed out of over the last 12 months,

00:16which they have brought here today, and we are donating to Cancer Research.

00:21Cool, so we've got to give a shout out to Conexia, is it?

00:25And that's the logistics who have been amazing and donated a van for us again this year,

00:29so we can take everything down there, because with this amount,

00:31we just could not fit it in our cars, and they're amazing and helping us again this year.

00:35So where do they have to go to now then?

00:36So these are going to be transported down to Cancer Research in Wellington,

00:40and we've got a bit of a job on our hands to get these on the van and back out.

00:44So is it an annual event for you guys?

00:46So we do this every year. It's called the Slimming World Big Clothes Throw,

00:49and we do it nationally as a company, and get all the groups involved doing it.

00:53Awesome to go and say hello to some of the ladies.

00:57Yes, thank you.

00:58So are you some of our Slimmers, are you?

01:00No, I run a group in Newport.

01:03Yeah?

01:04And Sharon.

01:05I run groups in Hadley, Atbuston and Wellington.

01:08Ah, well, I've got that.

01:08And I run groups in Act.

01:10So how many groups have come together to do this collection then, to do this roughly?

01:15About 14.

01:1614 groups.

01:17Yeah, yeah, so it's good going, isn't it?

01:19Cool.

01:20And you look nice and comfy there, madam.

01:22You won't want to give that up.

01:24Have you asked to guess how many, kind of, you know, what amount we've got in weight?

01:29Oh, I would say there is at least 450 to 500 bags there this year.

01:34That's crazy.

01:35It's absolutely great going there.

01:36We can't wait to get them loaded on the van and work out how many we've got this year,

01:39but we have smashed last year at the park.

01:41Well, well done to all involved and a fantastic team effort.
