00:00Malaysia Hindu Sangam will submit a memorandum to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim outlining
00:07various grievances faced by Hindu temple committees nationwide and their possible solutions today.
00:13Speaking to a gathering of more than 800 people at a town hall meeting, MHS President T. Ganesan
00:19stressed the need to maintain national unity and said that temple-related issues, especially
00:24those concerning land, need to be handled rationally.
00:28The town hall was attended by representatives from temple committees across the country,
00:32MHS members, and members of the Hindu community.
00:36It was called after a plan to relocate the 130-year-old Dewi Sri Patrakaliaman Temple
00:42off Jalan Masjid India to make way for a mosque to be built by JAKO Group was met with public
00:47backlash.
00:49The temple committee eventually agreed to have the temple relocated 50 meters away to
00:53a new site measuring 4,000 square feet, matching the temple's current size.
00:58Anwar, who attended the groundbreaking ceremony of JAKO Group's Madani Mosque on March 27,
01:05said the temple's relocation was a win-win solution thanks to compromises made by all
01:09the parties involved.
