00:00This is what Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had to say about DAP MP Chow Yiu Hui's proposal

00:17for the creation of a minister's post overseeing non-Muslim religious affairs.

00:22Anwar said the matter of ministerial appointments was solely up to his discretion as Prime Minister.

00:27There is a minister of religion, there is a minister of co-ordination,

00:31there is a minister of harmony who represents all groups of all religions.

00:36The path is clear.

00:39Chow's proposal came on the heels of the uproar over proposed guidelines pertaining to Muslims

00:44attending non-Muslim festivities, funerals, as well as events at non-Muslim places of worship.

00:50Separately, Anwar said he had a candidate for the vacant post of Malaysian ambassador to the US,

00:55but declined to reveal the name.

00:58He said he would propose the candidate to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim

01:02when he visits the king in Bahrain.

01:04The position has been vacant following the completion of former MP Nazri Aziz's two-year stint.
