00:00Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said today that he will attend the inauguration of the Pecatanah Masjid Madani in Jalan Masjid India,

00:11an area that has sparked controversy over the redevelopment plan of a Hindu temple.

00:17Anwar said he would lay the foundation stone on March 27.

00:22The redevelopment plan of the temple to provide access to the mosque has sparked a reaction from the public,

00:29including lawyers.

00:31Aiman Dazuki, Chairperson of the Jekyll-Treading Act, said the company bought the land in 2012

00:40and got permission in 2021 to start building a mosque there.

00:46He said the company has imposed construction to respect the process of relocating the temple,

00:52rather than agreeing to pay the cost of relocating the temple.

00:57He also said it is impossible to build a mosque without relocating the temple,

01:03because the land is not wide enough to accommodate both.
