00:00Peter Dutton has been on message this morning talking about his fuel excise policy, halving
00:08the fuel excise and his gas policy which he says will bring down the cost of energy for
00:13people in the outer suburbs.
00:15That's where he's been today.
00:16He's been to two electorates in the outskirts of Melbourne.
00:20Earlier this morning he visited homeowners in the seat of McEwen which is one of those
00:24seats that the Coalition wants to win back.
00:27He's talked about his fuel excise policy.
00:29He says that will help commuters getting to work each day.
00:33He's also faced a number of questions about public service cuts and has refused to say
00:38which jobs out of the 41,000 that he says are too many will be cut.
00:43I think it's important for us to live within our means as a government and if there is
00:47waste and there is bloating of the bureaucracy then we need to make sure that we're getting
00:54money into more GPs.
00:56We've made a big announcement in relation to mental health.
00:59We've got a $5 billion plan to build 500,000 more homes and as the Howard government did
01:05when they came in, in 96, they had to clean up a Labor mess.
01:10That's the reality of it.
01:11This afternoon the Opposition Leader has committed $6.2 million for a headspace in Melton.
01:18That's in Melbourne's western suburbs.
01:20He says that there is a crisis in youth mental health and it's important to have early intervention
01:25for young Australians in particular.
01:28So far Peter Dutton has campaigned in New South Wales, in Victoria and in Queensland.
01:34We're standing at the airport, there's a plane waiting, where will we go next?
01:37We will find out.
