00:07is launching a new program to train up enrolled nurses to, registered nurses, to combat the

00:13regional staffing shortage at local hospitals.

00:17Staff from Newcastle Uni told the Leader these nurses often face financial and logistical

00:21challenges that prevent them from furthering their education, and that this will be the

00:26first time these nurses can upskill without having to relocate to a metropolitan area.

00:34The Study in Place program aims to address the ongoing nursing shortages in regional

00:39and rural areas.

00:41The program provides a flexible pathway for enrolled nurses in Tamworth and surrounding

00:45communities such as Carindae, Gunnedah, and Narrabri to advance their qualifications while

00:50remaining close to their local areas.
